RYANN PUENTE GRADUATING YEAR: 2017
My name is Ryann Puente, and I am part of the 2017 graduating class. I am currently the setter at Miami Killian Senior High School. My secondary position is a defensive specialist, however, I am an all around player and can play any position. Playing volleyball at the highest possible level interests me greatly, and has been a goal of mine since I started. I have been competing in sports since the age of 6, and at the age of 8, won a silver medal in the AAU Junior Olympics for jump rope. Being a competitor is part of who I am, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Since freshman year, I’ve been on the varsity volleyball team and became starting setter my sophomore year. I have played club volleyball since 8th grade, playing two years for Miami Select, and now coming up on my third year with Miami Elite. Not only do I excel athletically, but academically as well; my 5th grade year, I received the highest score on the FCAT at my school. This brought my school’s average FCAT rate up, which had never been done in the history of that school. Along with that, my peers voted me most athletic in middle school. I have been enrolled in the magnet program at Miami Killian since freshman year and was inducted into the Cambridge International Program my junior year. I have a GPA of 3.6, and am part of several clubs at my school, including National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. I believe volleyball is a sport that everyone should have the opportunity to play. With that being said, I helped create an intramural volleyball program at my middle school to get both boys and girls involved in extracurricular activities. It started in 2014 and has continued to grow and spread the love for volleyball. Since my sophomore year, I have been playing beach volleyball for my high school in order to help raise money for children who are underprivileged.
