GAME NOTES Going Streaking: Since the revitalization of the football program in 2007, Saint Vincent has not won two-straight games in a season, or against a single opponent. This weekend against Thiel, the Bearcats can do both, after defeating the Tomcats, 17-3, last season and FDUFlorham, 55-3, on Sept. 10. Among the Nation’s Elite: The Bearcats enter play this weekend ranked among the Top 25 teams in the nation in several categories. In Pass Efficiency Defense, SVC is 18th with an efficiency rating of 85.35, while ranking 23rd in Pass Efficiency Offense at 166.15. The Bearcats are also 21st in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 11.5 points per game. Red Zone = End Zone: Saint Vincent enters this afternoon’s game tied for first in the nation in Red Zone Efficiency. In two games, the Bearcats have converted all eight of their trips inside the opponents’ 20-yard line into touchdowns (four rushing, four passing). Bearcat Converters: SVC also ranks among the leaders in the nation in Third-Down Efficiency. The Bearcats have been in third-down situations 36 times in two games and have converted 21 of them for first downs, a 58.33 percent, which ranks fourth in NCAA Division III. “Aaron” It Out: Senior quarterback Aaron Smetanka ranks 19th in the nation in passing efficiency with a 168.35 rating. The First-Team All-PAC QB from a season ago was named PAC Offensive Player of the Week after his week two performance against FDUFlorham, where he completed 88.5 percent of his passes (23-26) for 247 yards and four touchdowns.

2

Terrific Tandem: After losing wide receiver Chace Ginyard to injury in Week One, Smetanka has turned to the junior wide receiving tandem of Ricky Douglas and Christian Sutton to pick up the slack. The two have combined for 21 catches, 283 yards and one touchdown this season.
