Game Notes FIRST PITCH Centennial Conference foes Gettysburg and McDaniel conclude their regular-season series this afternoon as they face off in a single nine-inning game. ALL-TIME SERIES The Bullets lead the Green Terror 83-35-3 in the alltime series that dates all the way back to 1888. TAKE ALS YARD DAY Before today’s game, Gettysburg will hold its sixth annual “Take ALS Yard Day” ceremony in support of Project ALS, a support group dedicated to raising funds for research and awareness of this disease. The initiative is held on behalf of the families of Tom Kirchhoff and Robert Borman, friends of the Gettysburg College baseball program who passed away after battling ALS. Kirchhoff, who passed away in March of 2015 after a four-year battle with ALS, was the son of Bill ’63 and Jean Kirchhoff ’64. The family has been a generous supporter of the baseball team, and Gettysburg’s home field is named after them. Borman, the father of former Gettysburg baseball player Rob Borman ’05, passed away in October of 2014 after a year-long fight with ALS. The Borman family has also been a generous supporter of the baseball team and is recognized with a plaque outside the visiting team bullpen here at Kirchhoff Field. Five years ago, former Bullet captain Nate Simon ’14 started the team’s “Take ALS Yard” fundraiser, which has raised over $55,000 and is now organized by senior Logan Sneed. The team has sold merchandise throughout the year at the table next to the home dugout, and donations are also accepted online at takealsyard.com.

Robbie Mays struck out the final batter to finish with a 15-hit complete game. Giovinco also scored two runs, drove in two runs, and stole a pair of bases. He became the second Bullet to tie Gettysburg’s singlegame hits record this season, as sophomore Ryan LaCoe went 5-for-6 in a loss to Johns Hopkins back on April 10. Freshman Matt Szczesny added a 4-for-5 day at the plate for the Bullets in a contest featured a combined 31 hits, with both teams leaving 12 runners on base. DEMARTINO SHINES Senior Brad DeMartino turned in an outstanding performance this past Saturday, firing a four-hit complete game in Gettysburg’s 3-1 victory at Centennial Conference front-runner Swarthmore. DeMartino no-hit the Garnet through the opening five innings and finished with six strikeouts and just one walk versus one of the top offensive squads in the conference. SCOUTING THE GREEN TERROR  McDaniel snapped a four-game losing streak with its win over the Bullets on Wednesday, when it collected 16 hits. Sophomore Evan Finch and freshman Ryan Downes led the Green Terror offensively with three hits apiece.  McDaniel has made its mark as a strong offensive team and enters today’s game ranked second in batting (.305). Senior Mike Dunn has been the team’s leading hitter at .386.  On the mound, junior Zach Fortuna has gone 3-2 with 34 strikeouts over 35 1/3 innings while sophomore Jordan Rhodes has racked up a team-leading 46 strikeouts over 40 1/3 innings.

LAST TIME OUT Sophomore Joe Giovinco finished 5-for-5 and tied the school record for hits in a game, but the Bullets lost by a 9-5 count at McDaniel this past Wednesday. Gettysburg led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth before the Green Terror pulled ahead with seven runs over the next three innings. The Bullets threatened in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a run and loading the bases with two outs, but junior
