Game Notes OPENING FACE-OFF The second-ranked and conference-leading Bullets seek their 13th victory in as many games this season as they host the McDaniel College Green Terror in a Centennial Conference match-up. ALL-TIME SERIES Gettysburg leads McDaniel 36-13 in the all-time series that dates back to 1969. The Bullets have claimed the last two meetings after the Green Terror won in 2012 to snap a string of 16 straight Gettysburg wins in the series. LAST TIME OUT In a match-up of the top-two teams in the Centennial Conference, the Bullets pulled away late in the second half to come away with a 9-7 victory at Ursinus College, ranked No. 15 at the time, last Saturday. Freshman goalie Tim Brady made seven saves while junior defenseman Geoff Davis picked up five ground balls as Gettysburg held an opponent to a single-digit goal total for the 11th time in 12 games this season, including versus all four of its ranked opponents. Offensively, the Bullets received a balanced effort, as seniors Robby Maddux, Brendan Morris, and Jimmy Morris and junior Paul Werner scored two goals apiece. McDaniel jumped to an early 7-3 lead and defeated Muhlenberg 14-8 in Allentown last Saturday. Senior Patrick Serio scored five goals to lead the Green Terror, who never trailed. The Mules pulled to within 8-6 heading into the fourth quarter, but that’s when McDaniel outscored the Mules 6-2 to pull away. Junior Eric Ritchie made 12 saves and allowed seven goals over 57 minutes between the pipes for the Terror. LAST MEETING VERSUS MCDANIEL Needing a victory to clinch a berth in the Centennial Conference playoffs, the Bullets overcame a five-goal fourth-quarter deficit by scoring the game’s final six goals to stun McDaniel 16-15 in Westminster last year on the final day of the regular season. Jameson Smith provided some late-game heroics for the Orange and Blue, scoring the team’s final three goals over a 5:24 span, including the game-winner at the 2:35 mark, while Martin Manilla ’14 poured in five goals and one assist for the Bullets. Patrick Serio led McDaniel with seven goals. RECORD START At 12-0, the Bullets are off to their best start in program history. They have surpassed the 2010 squad, which opened the year 9-0.
