Thank you from Whiteheath A huge thank you to the WISA team for organising such a fantastic day last Saturday. I spoke to so many visitors who had really enjoyed the day. There was an enormous amount of work involved by the committee, their helpers and our staff. I hope this has inspired other parents to support WISA and join in the preparation of these fund-raising events. They ARE hard work - but they are also great fun! Thank you, Ms Weaving & Mrs Blake Afterschool club Please note that today (Friday 20th) is the deadline for returning your completed afterschool club registration forms, we have only received 17 expressions of interest so far, if we do not reach 25 we will not be able to start this after school facility. Friday 27th - Super Hero’s Dressing Up Day Next week, we will be continuing with our 'Superhero' theme. In letters and sounds we will be looking at previously taught sounds and tricky words and continue with Phase 4. In literacy and maths we will be recapping on what the children have learnt. Friday 27th May is our Reception Superhero dress-up day. The children can wear any Superhero outfit of their choice, but please ensure that it is suitable for school, proper school shoes should also be worn. Please make sure all items are named. Challenge Books will be going home next week, if you have not yet returned the challenge book, could you please do so ASAP. Please can you also return Library books by the end of next week.

YEAR 1 This week we will be focussing on the story of ‘Snow White’. In English we will be retelling the story in our own words and working on different spelling patterns. In maths we will be focussing on number bonds to 20, fractions and positional language programmable toys. In science we will be learning about what materials buildings are made from. Polite reminder: We will be sending home your child’s PE kit to be washed. Please check that it still fits and that all items are named. Thank you.

YEAR 2 Next week in English we are going to be creating our own non-fiction booklets about a habitat, focussing on what the habitat is like and some of the animals that might live there. We are going to be looking at expanded noun phrases in grammar (for example a red and gold dress) and continuing to work on our comprehension skills. In maths we are going to be revisiting strategies used to work out the difference between two numbers, particularly using empty boxes, telling the time to the nearest 15, then 5 minutes, and using column subtraction to subtract two digit numbers. This week’s homework will be online at ‘MyMaths’ - please speak to your class teacher if you have any problems accessing it. In design and technology we are going to be using clay to make the fantasy animals designed in the challenge books, as well as painting them and writing instructions about how they were made. In RE we are going to be looking at ‘Big Questions’, for example “do animals

have feelings”?

In letters and sounds we will be revisiting all of our work on suffixes. A reminder: please ensure that your child reads their home reading books by Friday, to ensure that we can continue to progress with our reading! Library books are changed on Mondays - please make sure your child's library book is in their book bag. Thank you for your continued support!
