WPX Energy specializes in producing natural gas, natural gas liquids and oil from non-conventional resources such as tight-sands and shale formations, as well as from coal-bed methane reserves.
•R eceived a Business of the Year award from the Campbell County Fire Dept.
We were previously a wholly owned subsidiary of Williams. We became a separate, independent company two years ago.
•W PX is a member of the Petroleum Association of Wyoming; we vice-chair the safety council
Our Local Story We have been active in the state’s Powder River Basin since 2001. Our office in Gillette employs 70 people. This staff oversees our operations across 360,000 net acres in Campbell and Johnson counties. We operate 2,000 wells in this area and hold a joint ownership interest in another 2,800 wells. In southwestern Wyoming, we also have a small working interest in wells located in Sublette County’s Green River Basin.
•W e produce enough natural gas in Wyoming to meet the energy needs of 750,000 homes per day
•C ompleted 37 wells in Wyoming during 2013 on a gross basis •C ommended by the state for efforts to protect sage grouse

Economic Benefits $23.7 million Represents the severance and ad valorem taxes we paid in 2013
• L ocal employee appointed by governor to serve on state’s O.S.H.A. commission representing oil and gas
