In one of their most challenging weekends of the season at the NACC/IIAC Challenge in Mequon, Wis., the Eagles finished with a 1-3 record against a quartet of Iowa Conference schools. The Eagles fell in straight sets to Wartburg College before losing a much closer match to Luther College 3-1. In the opening match, the Knights claimed victory by scores of 25-11, 25-19, 25-11. Mackenzie Hannan had the strongest match among Edgewood College attackers scoring nine kills with just one error and hitting .364. Haley Schwenn led the Eagles with 12 assists, while Sarah Uczen had a team-high 12 digs. Luther College pulled out two of their sets by working beyond the 25-point limit, taking a 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 26-24 victory. The Eagles were led by Mackenzie Doherty who hit .323 with 12 kills and only two errors. Koester also had 12 kills to go with 10 digs for a double-double. The Eagles faced their first five-set test of the season, and came out on top in a 3-2 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University on the second day of the NACC-IIAC Challenge. Unfortunately, the Eagles fell to Coe College 3-1 in the day’s second match despite winning the first set. Mackenzie Doherty finished the match with a kill for a 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 22-25, 15-12 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan. Schwenn’s 19 assists gave her 2000 for her career, only the fifth Eagle to do that. In the final match of the NACC-IIAC Challenge, Edgewood College took the first set from Coe College but lost 21-25, 2520, 25-20, 25-12. Koester and Doherty each had 10 kills.
