About the Eagles (As of 9/15) After putting together their first winning streak of the season with a pair of back-to-back 1-0 wins, the Edgewood College women’s soccer team has suffered a pair of defeats to North Central College and Beloit College at home. Victory wasn’t in the cards for the Edgewood College women’s soccer team on September 9. The Eagles struggled to generate scoring opportunities, falling to North Central College (Ill.) 3-0 at Goodman Pitch-East. Edgewood College totaled only four shots on the day, with Warda accounting for two and the only one put on goal. Hannah Menzia and Yasmine Faouzi had the Eagle’s other two shots. Goalkeeper Grace Wildeboer ended the match with five saves. After battling to a scoreless tie and despite putting seven of their eight shots on goal, the Edgewood College women’s soccer team was literally beat by Beloit’s last minute goal in the 89th minute of a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night. Freshman Madelyn Peach put two shots on goal and Menzia added another in the first 11 minutes of the final period. They dominated possession for most of the second half and put all four of their shots on goal, but it was the Buccaneers who made their only second half shot count on a 1-on-1 run out up the middle in the 89th minute.
About the Pioneers Grinnell College owns a 2-3 record with a pair of shutout wins over Simpson (Iowa), 2-0, and Crown College (Minn.), 6-0. The Pioneers are outscoring opponents, 8-0, in wins, but are being outscored, 7-0, in three losses. The Pioneers are outshooting oponents, 85-52, and have put over 50 percent of their shots on goal. Francesca Varias paces the team with three goals and goalkeeper Regan Kasprak has started all five matches in the net with 17 saves. First all-time meeting
