1. New Business a. Minutes i) Minutes from the January meeting were approved. Minutes are posted on the FTSA website. b. Scholarship i) The FTSA will be providing a scholarship to qualified candidate(s) in May/June 2016. ii) The application was approved by the Executive Board and will be provided to the FTHS and posted on the website. Deadline for the application is April 29, 2016. iii) By-laws will be amended to include requirements/regulations for the scholarship. These regulations will speak to: application process; scholarship committee composition and responsibilities, rating system and awarding of the scholarship(s). c. 2016 Budget Proposal i) The 2016 budget was provided to the Executive Board for the initial review. (1) The budget may be impacted by the new regulations imposed by US Youth Soccer with regard to changes to field and team sizes at different age groups. (2) The FTSA may need to purchase additional equipment and materials to meet these requirements. (3) It was suggested that additional expenditures directly related to these new requirements be indicated on the budget line. ii) Board members were asked to review the budget and come to the March meeting prepared for discussion and vote. d. Soccer Camp i) FTSA and the FTHS Soccer Boosters will be hosting a summer soccer camp for recreation and travel players. The goals of the camp are to provide players with high quality soccer instruction in a fun and supportive environment and increase collaboration between FTSA and the high school program. ii) The overview of the camp program was presented to the Executive Board: (1) Camp will run August 1-5, 2015 and will be open to player ages 5 through entering 8th grade. Times of camp TBD. (2) Camp will staffed by volunteer coaches and assisted by soccer players from the high school. (3) There will be a fee for the camp. Price TBD. e. Fall 2016 Recreation Season i) Discussions underway with local communities about feasibility of combining recreation soccer programs to offer additional teams/competition to recreation games. ii) Field will need to be designated and prepared for both 7 v 7 and 9 v 9 games, in accordance with the new US Youth Soccer regulations. (1) Suggested to use Riverfront for 7 v 7 games. (2) A field at the Marter Complex will be lined for 9 v 9 games.
2 2. Training Coordinator (Todd Moore) a. Spring Training i) The dates for spring training sessions are April 9, April 16 and May 7. ii) Two sessions will run each day. Session one for ages 5-8 and session 2 for ages 9 and above. iii) Todd Moore and Tom Kurtz will run the sessions with assistance from two high school players. iv) No cost for the training. Players will be to register for the training 3. Travel Coordinator Report (Chris Conti) a. Girls’ season begins the first week of March and boys begin the following week. b. Flights for both girls and boys have been set. c. Schedules will be posted in the next couple of weeks. d. Need to coordinate with the Field Coordinator on field assignments. 4. Vice President Report (Tom Boracci) a. Photo Vendors i) Four companies are being considered for the 2016 soccer photos. ii) Exploring ways to use the photos as a fundraiser for FTSA. b. By-laws i) Tom has three volunteers for the by-law committee. They will have their initial meeting in early March. ii) Tom has not received any requests for changes to the by-laws. iii) A suggestion was made to review the requirements for travel players to play recreation soccer. (1) Feedback from coaches and players indicate that a wide gap between skills exists and is especially evident in the older players. (2) Travel players will not be required to play recreation soccer, but will not be prevented from playing. (3) Coaches of the recreation teams will be informed that purpose of recreation soccer is for all players to learn and play soccer. Travel players will not be permitted to “dominate” a team or game. (4) Further discussion will occur during the March meeting. 5. Field Coordinator Report (Bill Anthony) a. Field Day i) Field Day is scheduled for February 27th at noon at the Marter Complex. (1) Travel coaches and parent are encouraged to attend. (2) All travel teams shall have a representative volunteer at Field Day. 6. President Report (Cathy Anthony) a. See New Business
