Considerations:
This will be the students’ first exposure to tally charts. Graphing is not covered in Kindergarten. This lesson represents a skill necessary for mastery of 1.MD.4. The class must be surveyed for each graph. Explain to students that vertical lines are used to count the first 4 numbers, while a horizontal/ diagonal line strikes through the first 4 lines, indicating a group of 5.
