Vocabulary Partition: To divide objects into shares.

Teacher Resources Considerations: Remind students that shares need to be equal. Show students multiple ways to partition each whole into halves.

Half/halves: 1 of 2 equal shares.

Steps:

Shade: Color.

1. Partition each shape into halves. 2. Shade one-half of the shape and state that half of the fraction is shaded.

Application of MPs: MP2: What do equal shares mean to you? MP3: What evidence supports your answer? MP7: What vocabulary terms did you use?
