Game Notes OPENING FACE-OFF The fourth-ranked Bullets play their final non-conference regular-season game of the year as they host the Widener University Pride. ALL-TIME SERIES Gettysburg holds a 22-1 lead over Widener in the alltime series that began in 1976. The two sides have faced off in each of the last three seasons after going six years without playing one another. LAST TIME OUT Senior Robby Maddux scored five goals and the Bullets toppled Haverford College 14-3 in their Centennial Conference opener this past Saturday here at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. Senior Bijan Firouzan added three goals for Gettysburg, which took over the game with a 13-0 run that spanned 40:44 across all four quarters. Sophomore long-stick midfielder Chris Palladino paced the defense with six ground balls and was credited with four of the team’s 19 caused turnovers - the most by the Bullets since posting 21 in a 16-3 win at Messiah on Feb. 23, 2011. In addition to Palladino, Gettysburg’s starting defensive line finished with eight caused turnovers, with three apiece coming from senior Ben Armellini and junior Bill McAvoy and two credited to junior Geoff Davis. Freshman goalie Tim Brady finished with nine saves and allowed just two goals over 54 minutes of action.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK For the second time this season, Gettysburg swept the Centennial Conference Player of the Week awards. Senior attackman Robby Maddux was named the Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals against Haverford while sophomore long-stick midfielder Chris Palladino was tabbed CC Defensive POW after posting six ground balls, four caused turnovers, and his first career goal versus the Fords. It is the third week in a row that Maddux has been named offensive player of the week. MOVIN’ ON UP With his third goal against York (Pa.) College on March 11, senior Robby Maddux broke into Gettysburg’s career top-10 list for goals. He is currently ranked seventh in school history with 131 tallies and trails Pete Milliman ’02 for sixth by seven goals. AMONG THE CONFERENCE/NATIONAL LEADERS Several Bullets are ranked among the Centennial Conference and Division III statistical leaders, including senior Robby Maddux, who leads the conference in both goals (26) and points (32). Junior Jameson Smith is close behind, ranking second in goals (18) and tying for second in points (21) while sophomore Sean Fumai is tied for first in assists (10). In addition, freshman goalie Tim Brady is second in both save percentage (60.4) and goals-against average (5.64) while sophomore long-stick midfielder Chris Palladino is tied for second in ground balls (29) and tied for fifth in caused turnovers (12). As of the latest NCAA Division III statistical report (through six games), Maddux was 14th in goals per game (3.50) while Brady was 22nd in goals-against average (6.17).

Widener picked up its first victory of the season with a 12-7 non-conference win over New England College this past Saturday. Six different players scored for the Pride, who pulled away with a 7-0 second-half run. Sophomore Vince Marra led Widener with three goals while freshman Anthony Paone finished 18-for-22 on face-offs. Junior Chris Treat turned aside 10 shots in goal.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE  Junior Marc LaVine leads Widener with 12 points on eight goals and four assists while sophomore Vince Marra is tops on the team with nine goals. Junior Tim Taylor has contributed seven goals and two assists.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS For the fourth week in a row, Gettysburg has moved up in the national rankings, jumping one spot to No. 4 in this week’s USILA Division III Top-20. The Bullets, who are off to their best start since opening the 2010 season 9-0, have equaled their top ranking since closing out the 2010 campaign slotted No. 4.

 Freshman Anthony Paone has won 66.0 percent (3147) of his trips to the face-off X.

 Junior Chris Treat has played the majority of the minutes in goal for the Pride and is 1-6 with a 9.76 goalsagainst average and a .559 save percentage.
