Main Street Rehabilitation Project CONSTRUCTION UPDATE #4 – April 2, 2015 Hi everyone!!! The City of Placerville is distributing updates to the community regarding the Main Street Rehabilitation project. These updates are being issued via email to interested parties, and are being posted on the City of Placerville and Placerville Downtown Association websites. Updates 

Work has started on the replacement of water service lines. Through last night, 39 of the 63 water line services have been replaced. Currently, between six (6) and eight (8) services are being completed each night.

A few issues have arisen and impacted merchants for short periods of time. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the cooperation of all involved!!!

In general, the water service line replacements have gone very well, given the age of existing pipes, the complex series of valves that must be opened and closed, a few uncertain alignments and connections of existing pipes affecting the service lines, and the general nature of construction.

Restaurants, taverns and the Cary House Hotel are being categorized as “high significance” because of your needs for water service during the hours of construction (starting 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday evenings). Many of these services have already been replaced, and the City has coordinated with the remaining “high significance” business owners to ensure that these services are replaced outside of operating hours. For those establishments that are closed at least one night of the contractor’s work schedule, your services will be replaced then, if possible.

Most of the remaining merchants on Main Street have also been contacted and the remainder will be contacted, as needed.

Publishing a schedule in advance has proven more challenging than anticipated, given the unique nature of each service line replacement, and the time needed to replace each one.

For the next few weeks, updates are likely to happen less frequently as the contractor works each night to replace water service lines.
