PROJECT SCOPE Subcontract to Hensel Phelps Construction Company for work on new Metro Bus Loop at the Pentagon. CONTRACT VALUE $3 million TYPE Federal OWNER U.S. Department of Defense PROJECT DESCRIPTION This $3 million contract involved work on the new Metro Bus Loop at the Pentagon. Lane served as the prime subcontractor to Hensel Phillips Construction Company. Lane performed all site excavation and embankment work and installed storm drains, sanitary sewer and waterline. Its work included approximately 9,200 cubic yards of asphalt and pavement demolition; 7,800 cubic yards of site excavation; 18,000 cubic yards of borrow excavation; 26,000 cubic yards of embankment; 394 yards of RCP storm drain; and installation of 31 precast storm drain structures and 440 yards of waterline.

PROJECT BACKGROUND When the project started, the Pentagon Metro Station had the highest traffic of any Metro stop in Northern Virginia with over 34,000 riders daily. The purpose of the project was to upgrade security at the Pentagon entrance, and reorganize arrival, access and circulation areas at the Pentagon.
