Stannington First School Newsletter 18 July 2013

Dear Parents and Guardians As I am writing this letter the school is full of life and activity; the KS1 and EYFS Pirate Party is in full swing and KS2 are busy practising the Leavers Assembly. The school year is almost over and we will be sad to see Ava Sainthouse, Danny Readman, Emilia Wagstaff, Robyn Phillips, Harry Brown, Jess & Abi Cuthbertson, Grace McFall and Elise Brown leave us and we wish them every success as they continue their learning journey at their new schools. The past year has been an extremely successful one for Stannington First School. We started off the year at the official opening of Northumberlandia where we all met HRH Princess Royal. In December we had our Ofsted inspection and I was delighted when the school was graded as “Good” by the Inspectors. In January we were awarded the Anti-Bullying Award and the Basic Skills Award. The school has continued to go from strength to strength. In March the Early Years had an extremely positive inspection of their own by the Early Years Team from Northumberland County Council. The children have all worked hard this year and have enjoyed all their learning and made good progress. All good stuff! Next year we are going to work to be even better! The PTA have also had a successful year – they have just agreed to buy 8 Ipads, an Apple TV and training package for all the staff together with diary planners for the children. This is a fantastic achievement for such a small school – a big thank you to the committee who have worked hard throughout the year and also to you who have supported their events. Early in September Sarah Holmes, the Secretary, will be updating you on the events for the academic year September 2013July 2014 – one of which is to be an Auction of Pledges which will be taking place in October. I would like to thank you for all your kindness and support over the last year and look forward to seeing you in September – school reopens for teaching on Tuesday 3rd September at 8.50 a.m. The staff and myself hope that you all have a lovely summer break and that the sun continues to shine. Kind Regards Helen Stokoe Head Teacher PS. Please make sure all school uniform is clearly marked with your child’s name when school reopens in September.
