Stannington First School Thursday Times Diary dates :
Dear Parents and Carers
June 14—Fathers Day assembly in Church
The children of Stannington First School are children for us all to be proud of. They cope very well in a variety of situations and always rise to a challenge! Today we are being assessed for our Green Flag Award—the Green Team have been leading the school in this preparation. Whether we achieve it or not, the children have worked so hard to ensure that the school is a ‘green’ school’, which is to the benefit of us all. Unfortunately if we are awarded the Green Flag we will struggle to fly it as the flag pole is out of operation following deliberate vandalism.
June 15—Reserve Sports Day
Governors Vacancy
June 9—Sports Day June 10—Summer fayre
June 20&22—Fathers Day lunches
We have a vacancy for a Parent Governor; if you are interested in joining our very supportive and proactive Governing Body, please let me know and I can arrange for you to have a chat with myself, the Chair Tim Hague or one of the other Parent Governors. We will hold an election after the half term holiday.
June 23—TEACHER TRAINING DAY July 6 & 7—Transfer Day July 19, 3.30-6pm — Parents book look July 20—Leavers Disco July 21, 2pm—Leavers Assembly (Year 4)
Raffle tickets Each family is being allocated 10 raffle tickets to sell in aid of the PTA summer fayre. The fayre is one of our biggest fundraisers and ensures that our children can have extras that help to make their time at Stannington the best time possible. If you don’t manage to sell them all, it is not a problem, (your name doesn’t go in a book!), please return them to school so that we can re-sell them at the fayre.
Staffing I have been working closely with Mrs Palmer to plan the staffing and classes for next year. Yesterday, along with a Governor, we made an appointment of a new member of staff to join the team. I will let you know more details once all the employment checks are through. The children (and yourselves) will be informed of which class/teacher/teaching assistant that they will have before the transfer days—July 6th and 7th.
Dress down Fridays for the Summer Fayre Friday 26th May - Please fill an empty jam jar with anything – it could be hair accessories, games or a craft project with all materials supplied? Traditionally contents that suit girls are very popular, so spare a thought for the boys please!
Please remember to regularly check your emails and your child’s book-bag for any correspondence from school.
