Regret is as deadly as worry. One confronts an unknown future, the other an unfortunate past. Both seem unwilling to relinquish their death-grip once they find their way into your mind. They paralyze your actions and plague your relationships. Worry projects events into the future—events which may or may not actually happen. Regret reflects on events that have happened—events we’d love to purge from our memories forever… They really happened; there’s nothing we can do to change it. The life-giving promises of Scripture are the God-appointed means of renewing our mind when we feel regret. "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.” (Isa 43:25).
God remembers our sins no more. God doesn’t forget our sins, like an absent-minded husband does with the groceries he’s supposed to get from the store. He consciously chooses to not remember our sins. They are done, finished, fully paid for by the wrath-bearing substitute, Jesus Christ. He doesn’t bring them up again. He doesn’t question our repentance because, after all, we are the same person who has broken promises repeatedly in our past. He doesn’t turn away from our corporate praise because we’ve failed to turn to him in our private devotions. He remembers our sins no more. I’ll never be able to do the same with my past sins. From time to time, they will come to mind. But, when they do, I can choose to trust God at his word, embrace the forgiveness I’ve been given through Christ, and find freedom from regret. –Matt Rogers

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. 1 Peter: Living Where You Don’t Belong October 9 1 Peter 3:13-22 Suffering Makes Us Like Christ Awana Update: We had a low turnout of 21 kids on Awana opening night. Over the last 3 weeks, the LORD has brought 18 additional kids/students who are eager to hear from Him. PRAISE! Wed. 10/5 is Crazy Hair Night. We need 3 judges (you can even make your hair crazy). Dwayne (808-291-6150). Prayer Power. Everyone is invited to spend 5 minutes in the library after church each Sunday to pray with and for our Awana Ministry Team. Prayer is critical. We will see you in the library. *********************************************** Awana Leaders/Helpers: Please gather in the library for a short meeting after church.
