Messenger

February 10, 2016

If you’re looking for a chance to get a friend exposed to the message of the gospel, get ready for some popcorn! Opening February 19 is a movie entitled “Risen.” The trailer depicts the movie as being the adventure of a Roman soldier assigned by Pontius Pilate to recover the body of Jesus. In the trailer, the stone is rolled across the tomb of Jesus. Next, it seems the body is missing and the soldier is tasked to find it. As the trailer progresses, it is obvious that the soldier begins to believe that Christ indeed is risen. Twelve years ago, The Passion of the Christ packed theaters with the story of Christ from the garden of Gethsemane to the tomb. You probably remember the impact and discussions it generated. At the end of that movie, the resurrection was only giving a fleeting recognition right before the credits rolled. Now imagine a movie whose entire plot rotates around the risen Christ! Pray that many who see this film would come to know Christ. Pray that the movie would make lots of $$ so Hollywood will understand that movies with positive, even Godly messages, are a great investment. Pray for the impact on culture worldwide as this message goes out! It makes me remember what Jesus said: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Pray!

Luke 18:9-14 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others. Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, `God, I thank You that I am not like other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, `God, be merciful to me a sinner!' "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

What a blessing it is to teach young children the Word of God. We are in need of 1 Children’s Church Teacher and 2 Helpers for the 4-6 year old group during Sunday Services (not Sunday School). This would be a rotating schedule. Teaching material provided. FMI: 808-291-1339 Adele
