Opening Kick Gettysburg kicks off a five-match homestand as it takes on the Swarthmore College Garnet in a key Centennial Conference match-up this afternoon. The two teams enter today's game locked in a fourway tie for fourth place in the conference standings. The Series Swarthmore holds a slight 14-13-2 lead over the Bullets in the all-time series that dates all the way back to 1931. Gettysburg is seeking its first win over the Garnet since 2007, with Swarthmore going 7-0-2 over the stretch. However, seven of the last nine matches have resulted in a tie or a onegoal Swarthmore win. Last Time Out Playing its first nationally-ranked opponent of the season, the Bullets put up a valiant effort but lost 3-2 in overtime at then-No. 8 Haverford College last Saturday. Junior Patrick Santini and freshman defender Ezekiel Omosanya each scored for the Bullets while freshman goalie Thomas Keane finished with four saves. Gettysburg tied the match twice - first on a goal from Santini in the 14th minute, then on a 68th-minute tally from Omosanya. Last Meeting Patrick Santini scored for the Bullets, but Gettysburg came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision at Swarthmore last season. The Garnet never trailed after Omri Gal scored in the 11th minute. Billy Evers set up the goal with a shot that was deflected by Gettysburg goalie Peter Como before Gal kicked in the loose ball. The Bullets pulled even in the 54th minute, when Santini struck from eight yards out off a feed from KJ DePontes. But the Gar-
net took the lead for good when Ryan Meuth scored what held up as the game-winning goal on a free kick from 25 yards out in the 75th minute. Como finished with four saves for the Bullets while Tyler Zon also stopped four shots for Swarthmore. Regional Ranking Gettysburg earned a spot in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region rankings for the fourth week in a row when it was tabbed 10th in the latest poll that was released this past Tuesday. The Bullets were one of four teams representing the Centennial Conference, along with No. 1 Haverford College, No. 2 Franklin & Marshall College, and No. 7 Johns Hopkins University. Among the Conference Leaders Several Bullets are currently ranked among the Centennial Conference leaders in a statistical category. Senior Henry Smith is tied for second in assists (four), tied for fourth in goals (four), and tied for second in points (12) while junior Patrick Santini is tied for second in assists (four). In addition, senior KJ DePontes is tied for fourth in assists with three. Scouting Swarthmore Swarthmore enters today's game with a 6-5 record following its 2-0 loss at Kean University this past Wednesday. Sophomore Michael Thut made six saves in goal for the Garnet, who were shut out for the first time this season. Offensively, junior Michael Nafziger has been the team's top performer, scoring four goals, while classmate Tommy Sheehan has added three tallies. Thut has played all but 45 minutes in goal for the Garnet, posting a 1.45 goals-against average.
