West Oahu AYSO Region 769 Board Meeting Minutes March 22. 2017 Meeting called to order at 7:42pm by Elaina Paredes. Members Present: P. Acierto , K. Cannella, D. Cardona, M. Cardona, R. Daite, C. Kaawaloa, J. Fernandez, W. Ferry , J. Gamaio, L. McElhannon, E. Paredes, P. Poepoe, J. Poepoe, D. Turqueza , C. Ucol, Minutes from February 2017 were presented. Motion to approve: E. Paredes, second: P. Acierto. Motion passes unanimously. Treasurers’ report was handed out to the Board. C. Ucol informed the Board that money will be moved to Territorial Savings, with a .25% interest rate. o Motion to move CD money to Territorial Savings Bank made by C. Ucol. Second: J. Gamaio. Motion passed unanimously by the Board. Signors will be: James Fernandez, Derek Turqueza, Cindy Ucol Motion to approve Treasurers Report by D. Turqueza, Second: J. Gamaio Motion passes unanimously Registrar: Registration dates: 4/21 at Keoneula Elementary 5-8 pm “Get Up, Get Moving” family fitness event. Meadow Gold will be asked for donations. Pencils will be ordered from AYSO Store. 500 attended event last year. 769 volunteers will be: J. Gamaio, W. Ferry, P. Poepoe, P. Acierto, D. Turqueza, J. Fernandez and K. Cannella 5/21 @ Waikele 1-4pm, 4/29 @ Waipio 1-4 pm CVPA: Jes Gamaio 206 Registered volunteers 39 volunteers still need Safe Haven. A list was sent to each Board Member of those persons who have outstanding Safe Haven certifications. AGC’s: No Formal Reports D. Turqueza announced that the U8 will take on a new format with less kids on the field and more changes. Many changes for our upcoming season will be discussed at Expo. U8 will play a Summer season. More details to come. Referee Admin: No Report Discussion raised by K. Cannella regarding the “slide tackling” rule in AYSO. The concern is that there needs to be a Section-wide understanding and agreement about what this rule is, if any. W. McElhannon will be taking Referee Administration course at Expo to provide extra support to our Region. Coach Admin: No Report E. Paredes and D. Cardona will be taking the Coach Administration courses at the Expo. VIP Program: No Report New Business:
EXPO: Investment in our Board Members. Courses they can take to benefit their positions on the Board 13 registrations were already paid for as of the meeting (J. Fernandez, E. Paredes, L. Ramos, J.Poepoe, P. Poepoe, L. McElhannon, W. McElhannon, J. Gamaio, C. Kaawaloa, C. Ucol, K. Cannella, D. Turqueza, D. Turqueza) A request of four more was made at the meeting and D. Turqueza will look into securing those (W. Ferry, P. Acierto, Crystal, Jason?) Appreciation Dinner will be planned for the Board Members on 4/22/17. D. Turqueza stated that by sending these Board Members and Staff to the Expo there is an expectation that they come out to the field, provide support, and do what is necessary to benefit the kids. Board Shirts: W. Ferry and R. Siobal worked on getting the logo re-done and shirts will be put into production. Kirk Banks Tournament: Need Referees for Sun Fest on Friday. IF anyone is available please send them to E. Paredes or K. Cannella. Photography: In the future it would be good to do a more coordinated effort with Team Photography. Any ideas please to send to D. Turqueza. The current company is great because there was no transfer of funds on site. All ordering is done on the web. Future Positions and Assignments for Board Members: D. Turqueza shared information he received from current Board Members as to their preferences of roles for serving on the Board and any other ideas they had. The following are 2017-2018 assignments/appointments: o E. Paredes – U12 Girls AGC o L. McElhannon – U10 Girls AGC & Summer Camp Coordinator o J. Poepoe – U10 Boys AGC o Safety Director – R. McCarthy o K. Cannella – Assistant Registrar w/ J. Gamaio & Tournament Coordinator for Region 769 Teams o D. Turqueza – U6 Program o J. Poepoe & E.
