All Souls’ School Newsletter “Christ is our Light” w/e Friday 13th March 2015 Easter Play
Class Mass
Y3 & 4 have been busy rehearsing for their Easter Play and are very excited to perform the play to parents, family and the staff and children of All Souls. There will be a dress rehearsal on Tue 24th March which will be watched by staff and children. Parents, family and friends are invited to come and watch the performances on Thurs 26th March, 1.30pm or the evening performance on the same day at 6.30pm. Children should arrive at school at 6pm. Please make sure your child attends both performances.
Y1, 2 & 3 classes will be going to church for their class mass on Wed 25th March, 9.15am. Parents are welcome to attend the mass also.
A letter is being sent home today. Y6 Debating Team A huge congratulations to our Y6 debating team, made up of Jordan Chatland, Ben Jones & Michael Zita for coming 2nd in the Coventry Primary School Debating Competition. It was a very close call and the children should be very proud of themselves. We must also thank Ben Shaw for acting as a reserve for the team, Ciaran Allsopp, Orla O’Shea & Roisin Gaffney for acting as the ‘opposition’ in practice for the final, and Mrs Elkins for supporting the team throughout the competition. Clubs There will be no Drama Club on Monday as staff will be setting up the hall for St Patrick’s Day.
Good Shepherd Appeal To support Father Hudson’s Society, All Souls are taking part in the Good Shepherd Appeal 2015. This is our way of helping those in need in the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Good Shepherd Appeal boxes were sent home last week. The children should save any money during Lent they would usually spend on sweets and other treats, by putting the money in their box. This money will go towards social care services such as Fostering and Adoption Support Services and Schools Family Support Projects among others. Children can bring their boxes into school to empty them so that they can continue to save money during Lent. Please encourage your child to take part in this fantastic appeal. St Patrick’s Day Coffee Morning All parents, family and friends are invited to All Souls St Patrick’s Day Coffee Morning on Tue 17th March. You will be treated to performances by the Delaney’s Angels; our house band, our school choir, Malcom Evans & Y6 Ukulele players & Mary McHugh’s Irish dancers. Teas, coffees, Irish coffees and cakes are all avaliable, plus there will be an auction and raffle. Entrance fee is £2.50 which includes a tea/coffee & a cake. Doors open at 9:30am. Children can come to school in green non-uniform (t-shirts, hairbands, socks etc) on this day with a donation of £1. All money raised on St Patrick’s Day will go to School Fund. Donations We are looking for lots of donations of bottles and unwanted gifts for the raffle, cakes to sell and auction prizes such as tickets for events, free beauty treatments etc. All donations would be hugely appreciated. Please bring donations to the school office. Y1 Class Assembly Well done to Y1 children who gave a fabulous performance this morning. Their assembly focussed on Mother’s Day, where the children showcased portraits of their mums, a poem dedicated to their mums and explained why they love their mums so much!
