Braid in a Day Table Runner With Marlyn Black Wednesday, November 19, 2014 6:00pm to 9pm Level – Beginner Confident Description – Braid in a Day is a traditional design that can be made modern with the fabric you choose. Never made a braid before? I don’t mean braids in your hair, I mean braids in a quilt or table runner! Now you can learn an easy way to make braids using 2 ½” strips. In class, you will learn how to use the braids to make into a table runner and placemats. You can make more than one table runner if you do not want placemats or you can make more braids to form a quilt. Note: One jellyroll is enough to make braids for sizes ranging from a table runner to a King size quilt. If you are making the holiday table runner, one jellyroll will make this project with 4 placemats and the Table Charm Two table runner and 4 placemats. (The Table Charm Two class will be offered November 19th). Supplies for 1 table runner and 4 placemats 3/8 Braid in Day pattern (includes the braid template) (12) 2 ½” strips 3/8-yard inner border (or accent strip) ¾ yard outer border 5/8 yard binding 1 ½ yard backing (this will vary if you make a quilt rather than a Table runner and place mats.) 1 ½ yard batting Thread Sewing machine with cords and foot pedal Ruler Rotary cutter Other sewing notions like seam ripper, pins, etc. Prior to Class Read over pattern Cut (3) 1 ½” strips from inner border or accent fabric Cut (3) 3 ½” strips of outer border All other cutting will be done in class.
