AYSO Region 599 Board Minutes - January 16, 2017 Attendees: Heather Billing, June McIvor, Maggie Downing, Zack Self, Callie Boller, David Marshall, Brad Dolezal, Duane Hall, John Freeman, Nick Drews, Laurie Grauel, Maureen Call to Order & Intro: Heather Billing @ 6:30PM November Minutes: motion to approve by June, second by Maggie, board approves Treasurer’s Report - Nick Drews o Currently have approximately $168,000 – lots of costs coming up for All-Stars (uniforms, tourney entries, etc.) o Nick will update the report for future meeting to include ‘Year to Date’ / have a separate section for All-Stars Nominating Committee - Zack Self o Slate read out loud to board: motion to approve by June, second by Maggie and John, board approves All Stars/Spring Travel - David Marshall o First area tournament was rained out Need to send $100 per team to 5 Cities o Budget Projection: David put together 4 scenarios to get an idea of how the AS can balance their budget (self sufficient) Board discussed utilizing funds from the EOS Tourney to offset the costs of AS to lower the overall costs for players to participate Board discussed increasing the scholarship fee from $45 to $100 (includes a jacket) Budget in June: the board will determine how much of the EOS Tourney revenue to utilize for AS and what the scholarship fee will be. Due to the consistent rainouts, the board will discuss and decide (in late Spring/early Summer) how many AS Tourneys we will participate in / commit to. o Coaches for Spring Traveling Season: currently only have 1 girls U-12 and 1 boys U-12 coach interest lots interest for U-10 boys and U-10 girls, David will attempt to find an interested coach for each Surf & Turf 2017 o Number of Teams: room for 96 teams, 84 teams already signed up 5 cities in not participating Handful of teams may not be coming because their area tournament is likely being rained out/rescheduled on the same weekend Recommended that we only give partial refunds if / when this happens o Venues: Damon Garcia, Talley, Los Osos MS, Laguna MS Recruiting site coordinators, food, pictures, etc. Referees - Duane Hall o We have had good coverage in other tournaments by our crews o Some AS teams are missing a few refs o Intermediate/advanced referee training: first week in April (likely at Laguna) o Updated uniforms in the Fall Registrar – James White (new registrar, will be here next meeting) Safety - Laurie Grauel o A few incident reports (broken wrist) Regional Commissioner’s Report – Heather Billing o Area Q Results - Boys U-14 got 1st place / advances o 2017 Calendar – Draft (will upload it onto the website next week) o AYSO Expo: March 3-5 2017, Las Vegas o Area Audit in March (second weekend in March) Equipment – Brad Dolezal o Goals – will look into the getting the goals all dialed in (nets, ties, carts to carry, etc.) o Trailer – needs work o Permanent shed @ Damon Garcia for equipment (Heather and Brad will discuss with the City of SLO) o Discussed extending permits at the end of each season (for an extra 2 weeks) for practice Other Business – Heather Billing o Setting Goals for 2017 Next Meeting – February 20th, 2017 @ SLO Business Center; Adjournment @ 8:03PM
