CAREER DAY FOR CROSSLEY • Senior co-captain Alexis Crossley collected a career-high four assists on Jan. 21 at Providence. • Crossley’s four points are also a career best. • She had previously had three points on two occasions, most recently in the 2016 Hockey East semifinals against Northeastern. • Her previous single-game best for assists was two, done five times, most recently at Boston College on Nov. 5,
2016. • She enters Saturday with 15 points on one goal and 14 assists. 2016-17 boston university Women’s ice hockey @BUwhockey Jan. 19. • Crossley is the first Terrier in program history to be up for the award, which presented the award annually to college hockey’s finest citizen — a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team, but also to the community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism. • Men and women across all three divisions of NCAA ice hockey can be considered for the award. • Finalists for the award will be announced in February, and the winner will be recognized at the men’s Frozen Four in Chicago. POINTS AT A PREMIUM • The Terriers have just five league games remaining on the schedule entering Saturday, meaning points are extra important as teams look to improve playoff positioning. • BU enters the weekend third at 20 points, four back of Northeastern with a game in hand. • New Hampshire is fourth with 19 (and two games in hand) while Vermont has three games in hand on BU in fifth (17 points). • The top four teams in the conference will host best-of-three quarterfinal series in the final weekend of February. • BU is in the unique position of being able to clinch home-ice advantage for the entire league playoffs, as the Terriers will be hosting the semifinals and championship game at Walter Brown. THE MORE GOALS THE BETTER • BU is 12-0-1 when scoring at least four goals this season. • The Terriers have just one win when scoring fewer than four goals; that was a 2-0 victory over Merrimack (Nov. 18). • BU earned just its fourth point of the season when held to fewer than four goals when the Terriers tied BC, 1-1. • The Terriers’ 6-5 win against Minnesota on Dec. 10 was the first time since Dec. 6, 2013, that it allowed five goals and won. • That win was also a home victory against a squad from Minnesota, as the Terriers topped Minnesota Duluth, 6-5. CAN’T KEEP BU OFF THE BOARD • The Terriers are now the only Hockey East team yet to be shut out this season
after Vermont was held scoreless last weekend against Boston College. • BU is one of just six teams in the nation (all of which are ranked) to have not been held to a goose egg this year. • The Terriers were only shut out once last year, falling 5-0 in the WHEA title tilt against BC. • They have been blanked just once in their last 71 games. LACHAPELLE GOLDEN WITH TEAM USA • For the third straight year, assistant coach Katie Lachapelle won gold with Team USA at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship. • The United States beat Canada, 3-1, on Jan. 14 in the Czech Republic. • BU strength and conditioning coach Jill Zeller was also on the staff and future Terrier Jesse Compher was part of the gold-medal winning side. • Two other future Terriers - Nara Elia and Corrine Schroeder - won silver with Canada. • This is the fourth consecutive medal Lachapelle has won at this tournament - she also won silver in 2014 in addition to her gold medals in 2015 and 2016. PARKER PILING UP THE GOALS • Graduate student Mary Parker potted her 18th goal of the season on Jan. 15. • She is tied for second in the nation and second in Hockey East in goals, three behind Northeastern’s McKenna Brand (21g). • Nobody in the NCAA has scored in more games (15) than Parker this season. • She became the first Terrier to reach the 30-point plateau this year and is tied for 13th in the NCAA and tied for third in Hockey East in that category with 32 points, three behind Hockey East leader Victoria Bach. • When Parker lights the lamp twice more, she will become the eighth different Terrier to tally 20 goals in a season; junior Victoria Bach and former Terriers Marie-Philip Poulin (‘15) and Jenn Wakefield (‘12) have all done it twice. • 2016 graduate Sarah Lefort scored 20 goals in three different seasons.
