GAMMA XI GAB Gamma Xi Chapter of Sigma Nu Brothers, the Gamma Xi chapter is looking forward to working hard and giving it our all this Spring 2015 semester at Missouri S&T. The Gamma Xi chapter earned a 3.031 GPA for the Fall 2014 semester, ranking us within the Top 8 on campus within fraternities. This GPA put us above the All Fraternity, All Student, All Greek, All Student, and All Men averages. We look to crack the top 5 this semester with our new SMART goals and recently remodeled scholarship program. Currently, the chapter is in first place in intramurals with notable championships in football and softball. We have found success with the combination of new and old members, leading the second place fraternity by a sizable margin of 365 points. With this lead, we look to finish first in intramurals for the year. This year's 107th Best Ever St. Pat's celebration will likely be as wild and entertaining as ever with the same traditions and events that make St. Pat's so unique here at Missouri S&T. The celebration begins on Monday, March 2nd, with Snake invasion and ends Saturday, March 14th, with the St. Pat's parade. This year's "Best Ever" we are proud to have one member on court, Gamma Xi 1496, Steven Paquette, the Pat's Board Webmaster and Social chair. The chapter is Fired Up and ready to compete once again in this year's competitions. We encourage all Alumni to come to Rolla and visit the house during the festivities. We hope to see many of you stop by this March. The chapter has nearly one hundred percent of members involved in some sort of on campus organization. We also have members who have created or colonized new organizations including Phi Sigma Pi, Photography club, and Water Polo club. We are also proud to say many members of our chapter have taken leadership positions in their on campus groups. We currently have one active IFC representative, Gamma Xi 1504 Brandon Queri, part of the Recruitment Committee and one member holding a position in Order of Omega, Gamma Xi 1459 Kyle Moellering, who is serving as Vice President. We are immensely proud of our members positively representing our chapter on

Campus. Sigma Nu Nationals have recognized our efforts in Campus Leadership and awarded us Excellence in the category. The chapter is looking forward to hosting many service and philanthropy events this semester. These includes the Annual Lambda Sigma Pi- Sigma Nu golf tournament that has continued to grow throughout the years. We hope to host a service events at the local animal shelter and create a new Sigma Nu owned philanthropy event involving a Co-ed Sand Volleyball tournament. Also, the chapter plans to be a sponsor in the St. Louis Muscle Walk. We would like to thank all alumni, friends, and family that have supported the Gamma Xi chapter of the years. This chapter operates following the example of all 1400 members who have come before us and would not be able to function without guidance from all of you. We like to thank you for being willing to help the house no matter the issue. We would like to create a St. Louis based alumni event to increase the opportunities for us to get together and socialize. The active chapter will continue to do everything we can to reach our goals set by the Executive Committee and adopted by the chapter in order to become the best fraternity on campus, and eventually make the Gamma Xi chapter a Rock Chapter. We will continue behaving with respect and operating with honor to ensure that everyone on campus and the community recognizes us for the group of gentlemen we are. If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or by phone at (618) 967-3627. I hope to see some of you over the St. Patrick's Day celebration or whenever you happen to stop by the house.

Fraternally, Caleb Anthony Day, ΓΞ 1469

LIEUTENANT COMMANDER’S REPORT First and foremost I would like to say I am very excited to take on the office of Lt. Commander for the Spring 2015 semester. After attending College of Chapters in Virginia over break alongside Commander Day, my enthusiasm was matched with preparedness for the upcoming challenges presented with the office. Each semester we have reached further and further in our pursuit of excellence and this semester I hope to help facilitate the chapter in taking a giant leap towards obtaining the status of Rock Chapter. While at College of Chapters Commander Day and myself came up with SMART goals that we plan to implement alongside goals we already have in place. Our focus and one thing we focused on greatly at College of Chapters is not what we plan to do, but why we do it. In order to motivate our chapter of honorable gentleman we must all be connected by one vision. The vision Commander Day and I have created is as follows: We are a brotherhood with an honorable reputation serving the community, school, and one another in the greatest possible capacity by aiming to excel out of respect for each other in pursuit of individual and fraternal goals. It is a high honor to be elected as Lt. Commander of the Gamma Xi chapter of Sigma Nu and I will give everything I have in improving our already great chapter. If anyone has any question, concerns, or would just like to get in contact with me or the house please feel free to call/text me at 314-920-2197 or email me at [email protected]. MARSHAL’S REPORT The Spring Semester of 2015 brings forth one of the largest spring pledge classes in recent years. It will be my responsibility to lead those 6 young gentlemen through a 12 week Candidate Education Program, while instilling the values of Love, Honor, and Truth upon them. Their success will lead to the success of the chapter, and I believe that we will be able to show them the characteristics of a true member of the Legion of Honor. We also had the pleasure of initiating 15 New Initiates, bringing the total number of Knights of the Gamma Xi Chapter to 1531. All of the newly initiated Knights have proven themselves through dedication to their studies, responsibilities and candidate education program. Each of the 15 New Initiates will continue to diversify the chapter, as well as apply the values of Sigma Nu in their everyday lives. Please, feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns regarding our Candidate Education Program. I can be reached by email ([email protected]) or by phone at 217-299-8186. The quality of our candidate class will continue to be my top priority to ensure great additions to the Gamma Xi Chapter. Christopher Moore, ΓΞ 1500

ALUMNI CHAIRMAN’S REPORT This publication of the Gab brings a lot of great news for Gamma Xi chapter. As you have already read from the Commander, our chapter is currently in first place for intramural sports. We are also excelling in academics with a GPA average higher than the all men’s and all fraternity averages at Missouri S&T. While we are doing our best to improve our image on campus through service contributions, academics, IMs, and brotherhood we are also striving to always improve our relationships with our alumni brothers. That is why we have established a goal of creating more alumni events in order to show our appreciation for all that our alumni give back to the chapter. Please look out for information regarding these events in the very near future. The chapter is also asking that our alumni support Gamma Xi in a few areas. The first is our Muscular Walk service event on March 29th. We hope to collect $3,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Please donate at http://goo.gl/y7VFRt. The second area we hope to gain your support is with our LEAD program. We are seeking alumni to facilitate workshops for our membership development program, LEAD. To get involved with LEAD please email Jacob Nall at [email protected]. Have a great St. Pats! Jason F. Reed, ΓΞ 1476

Patio of Honor Greetings Brothers of Gamma Xi. As the chapter continues to grow, so does its history. We would like to give you the opportunity to not only leave a piece of your time here with the house, but to also help provide for the future of the house. The Patio of Honor continues to expand and it would be our pleasure to have you as our next honoree! Each commemorative brick is engraved with your name and initiation number and is placed alongside of those of your brothers. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer the cast aluminum star due to issues with our supplier. For a minimum donation of $75 you can have a brick created with your name and initiation number engraved on the front. The money will go towards the cost of the brick materials, as well as improvements to the house. We greatly appreciate your help to continually making Sigma Nu the best house on campus. You can contact me by email at [email protected]. Thank you for all your support throughout the years. Fraternally, Jason F. Reed, ΓΞ 1476

BROTHERHOOD/PARTICIPATION CHAIRMAN As the brotherhood chairman, I am pleased to say we are looking to many events this year, including a brotherhood retreat. We have a few possible locations for our chapter to visit and would thoroughly enjoy any alumni to attend as well. After hearing back from nationals about Pursuit of Excellence, we are looking to include LEAD sessions within the retreat as well to help build our chapter even more. After the fall semester, we hold around a 300 point lead in the intramural standings coming off 1st place finishes in softball and football along with 3rd place in volleyball. We are planning on extending the lead by even more this semester as our basketball team is looking to start our semester off on the right foot. Our chapter is also planning on starting a new philanthropy event as well. We want to host an annual sand volleyball tournament in our own backward with participants from all over campus. All the proceeds would be given to local charities in our area. We are looking forward to what this semester will contribute and cannot wait to see all our alumni at homecoming next fall. Fraternally, Christopher Lepsky, ΓΞ 1493

RUSH The Gamma Xi Chapter of Sigma Nu welcomes six candidates in the spring semester of 2015. The assistant recruitment chairs plan on updating our PRO day board, plan rush events for the summer, and other things in order to recruit top-notch men for the fall semester of 2015. We hope that these modifications will help show how remarkable Sigma Nu and its members are. We look forward to showing candidates the principles of Sigma Nu and what it means to be a part of the Legion of Honor. Wish us luck during the semester to find worthy candidates for our chapter. The chapter always appreciates alumni support in recruiting honorable young men. If you know a high school senior who plans on attending Missouri S&T next Fall, please refer them to Sigma Nu. Feel free to have any eligible gentlemen contact me at [email protected]. Austin Foutch, ΓΞ 1518

SCHOLARSHIP NEWS This year the Gamma Xi chapter has reached a GPA of 3.031 which is a 0.031 point increase in GPA from the previous fall semester. Seven members did not attain the 2.5 GPA requirement. Even without meeting the goal of amount of members below this number, the chapter was above all Men, all Fraternity, as well as all Greek GPA. Our current ranking in the Greek Community for academics is 8th, which is a 5 position increase from last semester. This semester I will be continuing the incentives that have been successful for previous Scholarship Chairmen as well as making these awards more clearly communicated to members. As a house, our goal is to have all members achieve the GPA requirement and achieve a total GPA of 3.20. Fraternally, Jacob Palazzolo, ΓΞ1494
