Game Notes FIRST PITCH Gettysburg plays its season finale this afternoon with a non-conference match-up with Susquehanna University. ALL-TIME SERIES The Bullets hold a 31-20-1 lead over Susquehanna in the all-time series that dates all the way back to 1898. LAST TIME OUT Gettysburg lost a pair of games to Haverford College in a Centennial Conference doubleheader here at Kirchhoff Field on Saturday, as the Fords came away with an 18-3 victory in the opener and a 6-4 win in the nightcap. The Bullets led 4-3 heading into the ninth inning, but Haverford rallied with three runs and held on to secure the fourth and final conference playoff spot, as the Fords owned the threeway tiebreaker between Gettysburg, Haverford, and Washington. Sophomore Eric Brown turned in a solid pitching performance in the second game, yielding just one run on six hits over six innings. Senior Mike Kielbasa and junior Henry Klimowicz each went 2-for-4 in the nightcap. Susquehanna won its Landmark Conference finale yesterday, beating Elizabethtown College 4-3 in Selinsgrove. The Crusaders never trailed after jumping to a 4-0 lead over the first five innings. Sophomore A.J. Pinto earned the win, throwing 5 1/3 innings while yielding two runs on four hits and striking out four. Sophomore Liam Conboy came on to throw a scoreless ninth and pick up the save. LAST MEETING WITH SUSQUEHANNA Gettysburg broke open a 5-1 game with a 10-run seventh and the Bullets cruised by Susquehanna 18-2 in Selinsgrove in their next-to-last game of the season in 2012. Pat Cody ’13 led an 18-hit attack for Gettysburg, finishing 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Nate Simon ’14 was 2-for-4 with four runs scored for Gettysburg while Scott Zanghellini homered. On the mound, Eric Hungerford tossed a complete-game 12-hitter and stuck out four.
