MEC Semifinal Game Saturday, March 3……………………………………….…12 p.m. Charleston Civic Center………….Charleston, West Virginia The Matchup The No. 1 seeded Glenville State Lady Pioneers, the MEC regular season champion for the second straight year, will take on the No.5 seeded Fairmont State Fighting Falcons in the MEC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday. Glenville State won both regular season meetings (99-70 and 90-60). GSC defeated Shepherd University 107-76 in the quarterfinals while Fairmont knocked off the No. 4 seed Hilltoppers of West Liberty 64-55. Glenville State has now won 27 straight games. Kim Stephens earned her first win in the MEC Tournament over Shepherd. Paris McLeod scored 38 in the win over the Rams which is an MEC Tournament Record for most points scored in a single tournament game.

GSC has won the MEC Regular Season Championship for the 2nd straight year Fifth year in a row the Lady Pioneers have made it to the Quarterfinals of the MEC Tournament Last Semifinals game for GSC was in 2014. 2013-14 is the last time the Lady Pioneers won the MEC Conference Tournament (1st year of the MEC) defeating the University of Charleston (74-50) The Lady Pioneers are 5-3 in the MEC Tournament Glenville State holds the MEC Tournament record for most Three-Pointers Made in a Game with 16 (WV State 3-8-14) and holds the record for most Three-Pointers Made during the Tournament with 30 (2014) GSC also holds the MEC Tournament Record most FG’s with 88 in 3 games (2014) This is the 10th Regular Season Championship for the Lady Pioneers which is the most since 1978 and is the 3rd Regular Season Championship in the MEC (most in MEC) Paris McLeod has been named the MEC Player of the Week 4 times this season and won the MEC Player of the Year for the 2nd straight year (2016-17 and 2017-18) Kim Stephens was named the MEC Coach of the Year (2018)
