Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Basketball Players-of-the-Week Announced

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following basketball players-of-the-week for contests played February 6-12, 2017. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2016-2017 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. Women – Annie Rhinesmith, Dordt College (Guard) Dordt guard Annie Rhinesmith is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball player-of-the-week. Rhinesmith, a freshman from Shakopee, Minnesota, averaged 20 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game in a pair of victories last week. She poured in24 points in a win over No. 9 Morningside. All of her points came from beyond the arc as she set the Dordt single game record for three-point baskets made with eight. She was a blistering 8-of-9 from downtown. Men – Colton Kooima, Northwestern College (Guard) Northwestern guard Colton Kooima is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball player-of-the-week. Kooima, a junior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, averaged 30 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a pair of wins for Northwestern last week. He shot 58% from the field, 40% (6-of-15) from the three-point line while going a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe in wins over Mount Marty and No. 14 Mildand. Kooima scored a career-best 43 points in the Red Raiders home win over Midland, the highest single-game scoring output by a Red Raider since 2002. He also moved into 15th place all-time scoring for the Red Raiders with 1,616 points.
