New Block of the Month Programs for 2011 We are excited about our plans for the new year. The shop is buzzing with news about the newest BOM programs at the Kudzu Blossom Quilt Shop

Holidays throughout the Year BOM Starts February 2011 How would you like a quick and easy project that celebrates the holidays and months of the year? Wouldn’t it be nice to hang something special on your front door? Or perhaps you want to bring a smile to the loved one in your life—hang one on your grandparent’s or your door. You could even replace the refrigerator clutter with one of these cute wall hangings. I bet you can think of a dozen other reasons to make this BOM. Create a new 12” x 12” wall hanging each month. The program starts in February with the March Wall hanging Early Bird. and continues with Spring Bunny, May Flowers, June Bugs, July Blooms, August Beach, Apple Harvest, October Scare, Who Me?, Ho Ho Mistletoe, All Bundled Up and Love.

Each month you will receive everything you need to create the wall hanging . That’s right, you get all of the fabric, including the backing and binding, the pattern and Print n Fuse with the patterns preprinted. Once you get the kit, if you want to make the wall hanging quick and easy, all you will need to do is iron the Print n Fuse to the wrong side of the fabrics, cut them out, and fuse them in place. The Holiday Throughout the Year BOM program is $15.00/per month plus tax and $4.95 shipping (you can pick it up at the shop if you like).

Michael Miller Clubhouse Bonnes Amies—Marseille Quilt Make a Queen, 92” x 108” quilt that will forever remind you of Marseille. This traditional quilt is combined with contemporary fabrics that are so appealing these days. The colors are primarily green and blue with a white tonal background. But this is more than just a Block of the Month Program, it is a CLUB with all sorts of special goodies. We are still working out the details, but wanted to give you a heads up on this program.

January Classes 

Miniature Double Wedding Ring—There is still space left in this Friday’s class.

Sudoku Puzzle (and Pizza) - This is a really cool quilt—and you get to eat too. Be sure to join Frances for this Friday evening party (Jan 21 @ 5:30pm)

Rag Quilt– Wouldn’t it be nice to have a warm, fuzzy rag quilt to wrap up in right now? I know I could use one after the ice storm in Alabama. It has been downright frigid and hard to keep warm. Prepare for the rest of winter by joining Nancy on January 28th for the rag quilt class.

Super Simple Sunday Java Quilt. Have you seen the samples for this class? You will make both a quilt and a table runner from the Java fabric line. It is so cute. Join Sandy’s class on Sunday January 30th.

Four classes are returning in January as well:  Beginning Machine Piecing  New York Beauty  Seven Sisters  Sew & Sew’s Hand Piecing Club Click Here to go to Classes

February Mystery Quilt Super Bowl Sunday

February 6, 2011 * 12pm-4pm $20 Yes, a new Mystery Quilt! There are two color ways available and we made sure that the class hours won’t interfere with the game itself. What a perfect day: quilting and football

Snuggle Bunnies This is such an easy pattern. Two pattern pieces, ten minutes of sewing, a few more to turn and stuff the bunny, then add the ears and tie a ribbon around the bunny’s neck and you are done. Seriously, I made one in way under an hour. I actually spent more time telling my dog that this was not her toy than I did making the bunny. But speaking of dogs, wouldn’t this make a nice toy for the doggy love of your life?

I liked the pattern so much that I made a patchwork version using leftover strips from a jelly roll and layer cake. It took 7 strips and one 10-inch square. I cut five strips in half and sewed them together in two contrasting sets of five strips. I then cross cut them into 8 2.5 inch strips and put those together in a checkerboard fashion. Sandwich the checkerboards with a couple of pieces of batting. Pin the bunny pattern on the fabric (per the directions), sew and stuff. I then made the bow from two 2.5 inch strips and tied them around the bunny’s neck. It took about an hour more to make this cutie pie. And yes, my dog wanted it almost as much as she wanted the bunny made with the soft, cuddly fabric!
