The Huskies come into today’s games with a record of 16-8, 11-3 in the PSAC East. On Wednesday the Huskies won a pair of games over Lock Haven by identical scores of 5-4 with game one going 11 innings. In the opener Sarah Bortner’s RBI single in the 11th plated Maggie Hall with the winning run helping the Huskies rally from a 4-0 deficit. Bortner also got the win in the circle going nine innings in relief and giving up just one run and four hits, while striking out five. In game two Erica Keen’s RBI single scored Bortner with the winning in the bottom of the seventh inning capping a rally from a 3-0 first inning deficit. Sarah Bertoni got the win with six innings of relief allowing just five hits, one run with five strike outs and one walk. Keen finished 2-3 with an RBI, while Caitlin O’Connor was 2-4 with an RBI. On the season the Huskies are still led by Kayla McHale (out with a leg injury) in batting with a .397 average with three homers and 15 RBI. Emily Mayhew is second at .348 with two homers and eight RBI with Bertoni third at .313 with three homers and 14 RBI. O’Connor is fourth at .309 with three homers and a team-high 18 RBI. In the circle Bortner is 2-1 with a 1.24 ERA, while Bertoni is 2-3 with a 1.37 ERA. Taylor Parker is 8-1 with a 1.39 ERA.

The Golden Bears come into today’s games with a record of 26-11, 12-7 in the PSAC East. In their last action was a non-nconference matchup on Wednesday when they hosted Chestnut Hill. The Golden Bears swept the doubleheader, winning game one 2-1 in nine innings and game two 3-1. Blayse Cholish led Kutztown with three hits on the day, while Amato, Smith, Sienko each tallied two. Lisa Lawson hit a double and Casey Charterina stole second after a single in game one. Offensively, Kutztown is lead by freshman pitcher/utility player Danielle Amato, who is hitting an astounding .393 on the season. She is tied for second on the team in home runs with three. In the circle, the Golden Bears will turn to sophomore Savannah Nierintz. The righty has a 16-3 record with a 1.42 ERA in 21 appearances including 15 starts. Also, senior Dominique Ficara has a 6-8 record with a 2.00 ERA. In 19 appearances and 17 starts, she has tossed 13 complete games. Kutztown’s pitching staff posts a combined ERA of 1.82, second best in the PSAC behind Bloomsburg’s 1.57.
