Get Their Attention! (10 minutes) Materials: MiMi Monster Puppet, Storm Stick, Streamers, Craft Sticks, Clear Tape
WELCOME kids to our FearBusters Lab. EXPLAIN that in our lab, we are FearBusters who work hard to say “bye, bye, bye” to all the things that scare us and our monster friends. INTRODUCE & PASS MiMi Monster Puppet by saying: Meet MiMi Monster! (Hold Up Puppet)
Need to Know: When I’m Scared, (make scared face) I Will (thumbs to chest) Trust Jesus! (point up)
Bible Story: Jesus Stops a Storm Matthew 8:23-27
Materials: MiMi Monster Puppet Storm Stick Streamers Craft Sticks Clear Tape Monster Match Cards Hand Sanitizer Snacks Coloring Sheets Crayons Filler Guide
Everyone give a ROARsome “Hello” to MiMi! (Everyone waves & says “Hello”.) When MiMi Monster comes to you, in your best monster voice, tell her your name. (Kids will PASS puppet & introduce themselves to puppet.) AFTER all kids have been introduced, SAY & DO the following: Have you ever been scared of storms? (Allow responses.) MiMi has a special FearBusters project (Show Storm Stick) for us today! Let’s make a Storm Stick! (Get Streamers, Craft Sticks & Clear Tape out of Small Group Bin & give the following to each child: 2 Streamers & 1 Craft Stick. Help kids Tape Streamers to their Craft Sticks.) When MiMi gets scared of storms, she waves her Storm Stick and then says, “When I’m Scared, I Will Trust Jesus!” Let me see you wave your Storm Stick. Now repeat after me: When I’m Scared (make scared face), I Will (thumbs to chest) Trust Jesus! (point up)

Preschool Application Activity Summary: Kids will explore situations they may have felt scared and will be reminded that they can “wave” their fears away as they TRUST JESUS!

Week 2
Application Activity (5 min) Materials: Storm Sticks, Monster Match Cards (MMC)
1. Have each child take out his/her Storm Stick. 2. PLACE Monster Match Cards (MMC) in center of group, logo facing up. 3. EXPLAIN “Monster Match Game”: Allow each child to have a turn selecting two cards. If cards DO match, SAY the following: This is a picture of (MMC Image). If you have ever been scared of (MMC Image), shake your Storm Sticks down low. (Allow kids to respond.)
Remember Verse:
If you think you can TRUST JESUS when you are scared, shake your Storm Sticks (MOTION). (Motions could be: high, to side, on top of head, etc.)
“I prayed (pretend to pray) To the Lord, (point up) And He answered me. (cup hand to ear) He freed me (wave arms & smile) From all my fears.” (make scared face)
If cards do NOT match, replace cards and move to next child’s turn. 4. After each child has had a turn, or as time allows, SAY the following: MiMi Monster wants us to remember we can TRUST Jesus to take care of us always! If you can TRUST JESUS, let me see you wave your Storm Sticks! (Everyone waves Storm Sticks.) This week, remember (have kids repeat after you): When I’m Scared (make scared face), I Will (thumbs to chest) Trust Jesus! (point up)

___________________________________________________________ Getting to Know You: Use these questions to get to know your group as they eat & color: What was MiMi Monster scared of in large group today— a worm or a storm? (Storm) What do you do when you feel scared?
Remember Verse (3 min) Materials: None
1. Have kids REPEAT the Remember Verse (on left) after you, with motions. 2. EXPLAIN that this verse tells us that when we are scared, we can pray to God. God promises to hear us and help our fears go “bye, bye, bye”. 3. SAY verse together again using different voices: baby monster, whispering monster mama, deep monster daddy, loud monster kids, slow sleepy monster. 4. Play at least two times, or as time allows.

PRAY with your group, having them repeat the following after you in short phrases.

SANITIZE hands with hand sanitizer & PASS OUT snacks. GIVE each child a coloring sheet & crayons. Ask questions, on left, to get to know your group.
Dear Jesus, help me trust you when I am scared! Thank you for my snack. I love you! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
