Sacred Heart Reception Newsletter Issue 3– Friday 22nd September Reception Class Learning Update!  The children have been working on recognising their names, holding a pencil and attempting to write their names.  In their maths daily sessions, the children have been practising recognising numbers, counting accurately within 10-20 and recognising where there are more or fewer items.  In phonics we have looked at s, a, t. i and p. There is a fantastic App I would recommend for you to download to help the children with their phonics. It is called Jolly Phonics and it is available for free in the App store. It allows the children to recap the sounds they have learnt and to sing the associated songs for each sound. The App also helps the children to write the letter.  In Plan, Do Review the children have been following their own interests. This week in class children were sharing reading books in small groups, painting and trying their hand at junk modelling.

Do you have? Although we have had some fantastic donations we are still looking for…

Junk modelling

Last week with the scrapbook, each child received a letter with information in regards to setting up the SeeSaw App for parents. We would urge parents to please se this up as it is a great method of communication. If you have any issues and would like any guidance please let us know.  Please can you make sure the children have their names on all items of their uniform including PE kit and outdoor shoes. There are still a few items without names on. Key Dates  Our Phonics workshop will take place on 26th September at 3.30pm  Early Years Open day will take place on 26th September from 9.15-11.30am , allowing you the opportunity to look around our fantastic new classrooms!  Our first Wow Wednesday will also be on Wednesday 18th October. This is an opportunity for you to spend some time looking at some of the wonderful things your children have been doing in their learning journals so far. We ask you to leave a comment to tell your child just how proud you are and this is stuck into their learning journal as a memory.
