Sewing Center News Hello Everyone! We have been impressed the last few days with the thought of God’s providential care. How much do I believe in it and accept it? If we believe in God’s providential care it does not eliminate our questions but it rather allows us to trust in Him and find rest even though we don’t understand. If it were not for God’s providential care what would our life consist of? We shutter to think!

The plan of the Master Weaver (Author Unknown): Our lives are but fine weavings that God and we prepare, each life becomes a fabric planned and fashioned in His care. We may not always see just how the weaving intertwine, but we must trust the Master’s hand and follow His design, for He can view the pattern upon the upper side, while we must look from underneath and trust in Him to guide……

Feetures Foot Facts Gathering Foot #16 Examine the relationship between the sole of the Gathering Foot #16 and the bed of the sewing machine, and it becomes apparent that the foot does not rest evenly on the feed dogs. This “unbalance” causes the fabric to feed unevenly under the foot, gathering as it is stitched. The slot in Foot #16 allows a flat piece of fabric to be stitched to the ruffled piece as it is gathered. It keeps the flat piece from touching the feed dogs and prevents it from shirring.

The amount of gathering produced is affected by the fabric weight, the stitch length, and the needle tension. A longer stitch length pulls up more fabric with each stitch, and is recommended when gathering heavier fabrics. Engaging the basting function, if available makes more gathers on heavier fabrics. Increased needle tension produces tighter gathers on all types of fabric. The Gathering Foot is especially useful for making ruffles for clothing, home decorating projects, etc. The gathers sewn with the Gathering Foot cannot be adjusted after being stitched, so it is important to calculate the amount of gathering needed before stitching.
Nurse FIXIT please, I need it yesterday! I can only sew for an hour or so and oh how my back aches, my neck hurts, and my shoulders are sore. Sound familiar? This is caused by improper body ergonomics (poor posture & sewing environments). When seated for sewing your thigh should be at a 90 degree to your lower leg and your forearm should be at a 90 degree angle to your upper arm. If either one of these is off your chiropractor, massage therapist, and local pharmacy will continue to frequently enjoy the benefits of your pocket book. Let us help you! We have just the right sewing cabinet and chair for you. Don’t delay, come by today and kiss your sewing hurts goodbye! - Happy sewing from Nurse FIXIT! Questions, comments, or suggestions?
