Jim Joseph – Simley Boys Hockey Head Coach  Jim was present to give us an update on things he has done for the girls program in the absence of a head coach o Practice times have been reserved with VMCC o Will Short has been working on a game schedule  Boys are having their locker room carpets cleaned by Zerorez. Do girls want their locker room carpet cleaned?  Boys want to get their team website moved to NGIN Volunteer Coordinator’s Report  Parade – September 7th o Send a note asking families if the girls want to walk o Have a couple adults walk with players o Maybe coordinate having younger girls from association walk with high school players (would need to order t-shirts for them as well) o Buy t-shirt for girls to wear o Buy candy o Find out if we would have to pay to have a float  Golf Tournament – September 14th o Will need parent volunteers as well as players Treasurer’s Report  n/a Webmaster’s Report  n/a OLD BUSINESS  n/a

NEW BUSINESS Fundraiser Chair  Dave Larson has volunteered to co-chair with Karen Matthews o Dave Larson – golf tournament o Karen Matthews – Gerten’s & spaghetti dinner Scholarship Update  Applications were due May 15th  2 applications received  Total Construction donated $2,500 this year Podium Sports Fundraising Opportunity  Liana to get more details from Brenda Mraz o Where? o How long? o Minimum # of participants? Other Fundraiser Opportunities  Cub – bagging groceries for tips? UPCOMING EVENTS Golf Tournament  Silver Course at Emerald Greens has been reserved for 8:00 a.m. tee time on September 14th  No golf carts for players  Communicate player responsibilities clearly prior to start of golf event  VFW has been reserved for taco feed, silent auction, etc. following golf  Schedule golf tournament committee meetings starting in June o Update local business list for use in soliciting donation ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR UPDATE Will Short  Will was present to recognize Tom Patnode as new Simley girls head hockey coach. Will is excited about the passion and knowledge Tom brings, noting “girls will be in good hands”. Will is happy Tom stepped up and glad he is taking time away from his family stating, “we are fortunate to have someone with Tom’s knowledge” leading our program. Will asked for questions/issues and stated he could be reached after the meeting via email. Will mentioned that Tom is working on getting his coaching staff together and knows that due to him being organized, he will be getting things out to the parents soon.  Will also mentioned that $70,000 for coaching stipends was donated to Simley by booster organizations in 2011-12 ($20k for Basketball alone).  Discussion around school budget took place o Tom Patnode to provide Will with expense amount for new helmets due to safety issue with M11 helmets

Summer development program is in the works o On ice training to be led by Danielle Peterson if she remains on staff o Time changes recommended by Tom to standardize timing (due to ice available at VMCC resulting from Tom Younghans leaving Eagan & cancelling his summer program) o Strength training through Bigger, Faster, Stronger at the high school Tom wants to bring in an off-ice trainer in from MN Wellness Coaching this season at a cost of $50-$60 per player (payable directly from players to MN Wellness Coaching) o Strength training (starting in summer & continuing on Saturday mornings during the season) o Speed & agility training o Nutritional information Captain’s practice times were discussed (11 sessions) Tom needs to get new team managers in place Practice times for 2013-14 o JV – Ice 3:00-4:05 & Off-ice 4:15-5:15 o Varsity – Off-ice 3:00-4:00 & Ice 4:15-5:45 Program & systems will be consistent throughout JV & Varsity Tom shared names of some prospective coaching staff members and is hoping to get more staff added to support JV Game schedule is almost complete (3 games to be added/confirmed) o Home opener – November 12th vs. Como (7 practices prior to first game) o Weekend of December 6th is the only time there are back to back games o Tournament December 26-28 at Robbinsdale Armstrong for both JV & Varsity o Teacher Appreciation to be scheduled o Senior/Parent Night to be scheduled o Alumni Game to be scheduled (?) Tom plans to publish a full schedule, including bus & travel times prior to the start of the season Tom wants to send our 3 goalies to Mike Moline’s goalie camp Player expectations will be clearly communicated on a regular basis with emphasis on teaching. Platform for issues will be motivation and opportunity, not criticism Tom will ask that parents not engage in negative talk about coaching staff or program Tom’s door will be open for questions – he prefers that parents come to him and will always have 2 coaches present for any discussion regarding players Tom would like to have 20 players dressing for Varsity games Players will have to take their nutrition seriously Captains will be asked to check in with JV players weekly & there will be no differentiation for exclusion between the teams Next Booster Meeting: Working session to discuss 2013-14 budget May 28th at 8:00 p.m. at Liana’s house
