VALLEY ROVERS LADIES FOOTBALLERS REPERSENT CORK

Valley Rovers were well represented last weekend in the colours of Cork. Laoise Collins played with the Cork U14 team losing 2-04 to 0-05, to Tipperary in the first

On Friday Feb 17th the Ladies Football & Camogie clubs held their annual celebration. We had an excellent crowd and an excellent evening. We had a number of teams getting medals on the night, the Football U12 & U18 teams for West Cork finals and the U13 Football & Camogie teams for winning their respective competitions in their divisions. Well done to all the girls on their achievements in 2016.

We had a very special guest presenting the medals on the night in Brid Stack, who gave of her time very generously afterwards talking to the girls and having her photo taken with each girl as well. This was very much appreciated. The Camogie club had a very successful year last with their Senior B team reaching the County Final only to come up short versus Mallow. The club continues to grow and get stronger each year. The Ladies Football club is also getting stronger and the numbers continued to grow in 2016 bringing with it greater expectations to look after these girls. This was recognised and a great body of work commenced within the club to try to recruit and retain the girls playing our games.

The two clubs continue to work collaboratively to ensure that the girls playing both games can maximise the benefit of playing each. We have also worked very well together fundraising particularly with the very successful Golden Goal competition again in 2016. As the winning ticket did not claim the prize the winnings of €500 was presented, as stated by the competition rules, to the Irish Cancer Society. Both clubs also worked closely with the adult and juvenile clubs again in 2016 to raise the necessary funds for the clubs development plan both in the Bleach and in Brinny. This is certainly a great collaboration and we will continue to work together as one into 2017. We wish all 4 clubs the very best for 2017 and that we

all have as much fun through participation as we had last year.
