World Geography Lesson Plans for September 25 – 29, 2017 Mr. Rex Whitworth Objectives

Weekly Schedule

Monday: Lecture/(PPt.)/Notes/Discussion: Common Physical features Islands/ volcanic/continental shelf/ water systems/east and west continental Students will continue their study of the United States and Canada and why divide/Niagra Falls it matters and what significance makes them a region. History Channel Documentary: Niagra Falls 44 min Students will learn and understand the characteristics in physical features that they both share such as: Islands (volcanic and continental shelf), Water systems (east and west of the Continental Divide) Phenomenom: Niagra Falls and it's importance Students will learn and understand the the types and where natural resources are located for both countries: coal, petroleum, natural gas Texas, Alaska, Appalachians, Wyoming, British Columbia and Alberta Students will conclude the week with a current event that is within the context of World Geography (ie. flora/fauna, culture, and any unique event that sparks interest and learning. This lesson will also fulfill the students weekly writing.

Tuesday: Continue History Channel Documentary Niagra Falls: answer questions. Wednesday: Lecture/(PPt.)/Notes/Discussion: Natural Resources/ Mining Problems/Environmental Campaign Assignment: Students will begin the Environmental Campaign Poster Thursday: Finalize Poster Friday: Current Events: Students will research a current event and write a summary that will be presented to the class.
