OUR VISION: To unite and transform the Benson Community with the love of Jesus.
From Pastor Bob Only God is Lord A little over a week ago, our country celebrated the peaceful transition of power at the swearing-in of President Donald Trump. As you know, the events of the last six months have generated a lot of political cheers and jeers, climaxing in the contrasts of ceremony and rioting in our nation’s Capital on Inauguration Day. Tough deal. Our culture is more divided today than any other period in my lifetime.
Makes you wonder who’s minding the store. Who’s in control of all this? The Bible tells us repeatedly that it is God who sets up nations and tears them down. It also tells us that the nation that honors God will be blessed and those who scorn him will perish. As Christians who are first citizens of heaven, it is our calling to pray for our nation and our leaders. We are to be “salt and light,” preserving righteousness and goodness in our culture. You see, no President has ever been Lord. Neither has the Congress. The Supreme Court does not have the final word. Even “We, the people” are not Lord. Only God is Lord. We who live under the Lordship of Christ have the opportunity to demonstrate the power of the life-changing Gospel of reconciliation. Fret not. He has not lost control. God is still on the throne. Pastor Bob The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble. The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty. The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice! (Verse 1 of Psalms 99, 93 & 97)
