Sierra 2 Sage Shop Hop 2014 We would like to thank our generous shop hoppers for their donations to the Fernley Food Bank. This year we collected enough food to fill an entire barrel. Thank you! A Stitch of Country was voted BEST SHOP for the 2014 Sierra 2 Sage Shop Hop. That’s two years in a row. We were also voted as having the BEST CLASS PROJECT. Thank you! Save the dates. Sierra 2 Sage Shop Hop, Color Theory in a Basket will be September 10-12, 2015.
Happy Birthday Nevada Nevada’s Turning 150! October 31st is Nevada Day Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, the 150th anniversary of Nevada’s admission to the Union, will provide opportunities for celebration and reflection as we come together statewide to commemorate our shared history and build a foundation of cultural appreciation for generations to come. Nevada’s one of a kind and diverse history will be celebrated throughout the state for an entire year in order to promote pride in the shared heritage of native and non-‐native Nevadans alike. Nevada’s Sesquicentennial celebration commenced on Nevada Day 2013 and conclude with an expanded Nevada Day celebration in October 2014. Carson City is planning a huge parade this year. Fernley Country Quilters November meeting dates: Wednesday, October 1, Saturday, October 18, and Monday, October 20, 2014. All meeting times are from 1 pm to 5 pm. At the last meeting, blocks were exchanged for the Friendship Quilts. Participants have until the first meeting in February to complete and share their Friendship Quilt. The quilt club is sponsoring a Make-and-Take event October 20 here at the shop. Topic: One Block Wonder, Stack and Whack. Pillowcase Class A Stitch of Country will be teaching pillowcase classes on Monday October 6 and Monday October 13. The shop supports the ConKerr Cancer organization that donates pillowcases to children, veterans, and anyone in need of a small homemade comfort.
Private Lessons We are offering private lessons for beginners! Learn how to sew with one-on-one instruction. Lessons are open to anyone age 10 years and older. Cost is $15.00 per hour. Call Rebecca at the shop to schedule your next lesson 775-835-0558.
Machine Quilting Class November The Machine Quilting Class by Jill Schumacher will be held November 18-19-20, 2014 class and still has openings. Space is limited to 20 participants. Jill will again teach beginning Machine Quilting using your home sewing machine, and she will also incorporate more advanced designs for those who are up for a challenge.
