The Brewers will welcome back a familiar face to Prentiss Field this afternoon, as former Vassar star Kristaps Aldins and his Stevens Institute of Technology squad invades Poughkeepsie for a non-conference contest. The Brewers are trying to snap a three game losing skid this afternoon, falling 10-3 to Old Westbury on Wednesday afternoon. The Brewers were slated to take on Baruch College tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. for a nonconference contest, but those games have been postponed as of today. Vassar has seen the emergence of junior Mike Koscielniak over the last few contests, as he has posted a hit in all six games he has started this season. Four players have got the start in all 23 games this season for VC, including senior outfielder Nick Johnson, who is hitting .386 while leading the team in hits, runs, doubles and total bases. Denis Shanagher is also 9-12 on stolen base attempts.

A Look at the DUCKS Aldins and his Duck squad come to Poughkeepsie winners in 10 of its last 12 contests, including earning a pair of wins over Elmira on April 8 and a single victory over Utica April 13. Stevens is hitting .289 as a team this year, led by the .400 mark from Jayson Yano. Yano has also been dominant on the bump for the Ducks, posting a 1.97 earned run average over 59.1 innings of work, posting a 3-1 record in nine starts. Zeph Walters is another Duck that has started all 27 games this year, hitting .389 with nine doubles and a team-leading five dingers. Nick Siebe is batting .383 as well, while Nolan Bennett also is hitting above .300 with a .348 clip, chalking up 31 hits and six doubles. The pitching staff has been strong, chalking up a 3.86 earned run average as a squad, holding opponents to a .252 average against. Greg Jakusik and Ryan Patterson have combined to pitch in 25 games out of the ‘pen this year.

Brewer Bio on . . . MATT HERNANDEZ Matt Hernandez, the slick fielding shortstop from Corona, California, has been a stabilizing force at the infield for the Brewers. Hernandez has taken control of the middle infield position for the Brewers, having started all 23 games at shortstop. So far this year, Hernandez is batting .243 with 18 hits and nine runs scored on the year. Hernandez is coming off one of his best contests of the season, as he doubled twice against Old Westbury, his first two doubles of the season. He has been even more smooth with the glove this year, as he has committed just four errors in 100 chances this season. Earlier this season, Hernandez had one of the biggest hits of the season for the Brewers, as he touched off a three-run homer at Skidmore to give VC the lead. He has five multi-hit contests this year as well.
