The Brewers jump back into conference action this afternoon, hosting the first of two doubleheaders with the Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday. Vassar has been off for the past six days, having split with Western Connecticut State University last Saturday, as VC exploded for 17 runs and 18 hits in game two of that twinbill. Nick Johnson had two doubles in the second contest, as he moved into a tie for the all-time doubles record at Vassar with 49. Coming into the afternoon, Johnson is fourth all-time in hits at VC with 160, while Brooks English is tied for 11th with 121 knocks and just two shy of Liam Lee for 10th all-time. Vassar’s pitching will be key this weekend, especially early on in the game and after VC has scored runs. This year, VC has plated runs in 53 frames, but has allowed opposition to score in the next offensive inning 25 times.
A Look at the TIGERS RIT comes to Prentiss to take on the Brewers following a solid five-game stretch during which they finished 4-1. First, the Tigers went 3-1 in conference play at home against RPI. RIT followed this with a resounding victory over the College at Brockport, who they beat 11-0 on Tuesday afternoon. In the win, RIT saw huge performances from Phil Sammon (3 RBI), Taylor Hogan (2 RBI), and Benjamin Terzini (2 RBI). Sammon leads the team in RBI with 23 and has an average of .337. Will Gorman is the only one to top this, batting .343 on the season for the Tigers and leading the team with 35 hits. Mark Nozzi pitched phenomenally against Brockport, going four innings while just allowing three hits. He is yet to allow an earned run in his seven innings pitched this season. Other pitching leaders for RIT include: Brandon Cohall (2.45 ERA), Brett Bouchard (3.38 ERA), and Rory Little (3.63 ERA).

Brewer Bio on . . . Brooks ENglish Brooks English, from Milton, Massachusetts, has been a four-year starter for the Brewers at designated hitter or one of the corner positions. English, a team captain for the Brewers, has been a two-time All-Liberty League performer, earning First Team accolades as a freshman and sophomore at designated hitter. Last season, English became a full-time first baseman and has flourished at the position, committing just two errors at first this season. For his career, English is a .305 hitter, posting 112 hits, 12 doubles, four triples and one homer over his tenure. As a sophomore, English hit .371 for Vassar, posting 43 hits along the way as he helped the Brewers to a Liberty League Tournament appearance. English is third all-time in career walks with 78, just six shy of the all-time mark of 84 set by Tim Reinhardt from 2001-2004.
