Vassar College returns home for its 16th and 17th home games over the last 30 days, as the Brewers entertain RPI for a conference doubleheader. Vassar and the Engineers split a pair of games yesterday in Troy, NY, as RPI took the first game 4-0 behind a strong performance from Stephen Schiavone while Vassar responded with a 5-1 victory in game two. Cory Wuenschell posted two doubles in the nightcap, while Joe Conti pitched six strong innings to earn his second career victory. Junior Mike Koscielniak has contined to swing the bat well after being inserted into the lineup 16 games ago, posting a .385 batting average, while senior Nick Johnson is hitting .376 with a league-leading 15 doubles and a team-high 29 RBI. The Brewers will most likely send Adam Erkis and Trent Berg to the hill this afternoon, as Erkis has been VC’s most consistent starter, posting a 2.80 ERA with 35 strikeouts.
A Look at the ENGINEERS RPI comes into the weekend hitting .260 as a team, which ranks ninth in the Liberty League. The Engineers are also last in the conference in walks, on-base percentage and fielding percentage. In conference-only play though, RPI has the secondmost doubles with 32, while the Engineer pitching staff has been solid, striking out 101 hitters in 124 innings. Individually, Sam Lawrence has led the way for the offense, as he comes into the weekend 10th in the conference in hitting with a .321 average. Lawrence is fourth in the conference in doubles as well with six. Chris Holomakoff is second on the squad with a .298 average, while Weston Hawkins is batting .286 with five doubles and 13 RBI. J.T. Sawyer is the lone played on the roster to start all 33 games for the Engineers, as he’s hitting .262 with 13 runs scored.

Previous Contests 2016 - at RPI 4, VC 0; VC 5, at RPI 1 The Engineers have held a decided advantage 2015 - VC 4, RPI 3; RPI 8, VC 1 on the all-time series with the Brewers, winning six of the 43 games played between the 2015 - at RPI 18, VC 0; at RPI 8, VC 2 two teams. RPI has earned four of the last six 2013 - at VC 6, RPI 4; RPI 11, at VC 10 2013 - RPI 14, at VC 7; RPI 3, at VC 0 contests, and 11 of the last 14.
Brewer Bio on . . . ERIC STRICKLAND Strickland, from Round Rock, Texas, has been one of the main constants this season for the Brewers. Strickland has settled in as the every day second baseman for Vassar, having earned the start in all 33 games for the Brewers. The lefty has one of the nicest swings on the team, and he has used it well here in his sophomore season hitting .265 with seven extra base hits. He leads the team with four triples this year, while driving in 18 runs on the season. Strickland has scored 15 runs this year, and paces the team in base on balls with 21. He is also in the top five in the Liberty League in walks, and his on-base percentage of .388 among the team leaders. Strickland posted one of the biggest blasts of the season, as he posted a grand slam against Wisconsin-Stout for his first career homer. He has also been successful on all seven of his stolen base opportunities.

Brewer Bio on . . . ERIC STRICKLAND Strickland, from Round Rock, Texas, has been one of the main constants this season for the Brewers. Strickland has settled in as the every day second baseman for Vassar, having earned the start in all 33 games for the Brewers. The lefty has one of the nicest swings on the team, and he has used it well here in his sophomore season hitting .265 with seven extra base hits. He leads the team with four triples this year, while driving in 18 runs on the season. Strickland has scored 15 runs this year, and paces the team in base on balls with 21. He is also in the top five in the Liberty League in walks, and his on-base percentage of .388 among the team leaders. Strickland posted one of the biggest blasts of the season, as he posted a grand slam against Wisconsin-Stout for his first career homer. He has also been successful on all seven of his stolen base opportunities.
