A Look at the RAPTORS Bard College comes into the day hitting .255 as a team, which ranks eighth in the Liberty League, while the Raptors are seventh in fielding percentage and ninth in team ERA. Despite those numbers, the scrappy Raptor squad has picked up some signature wins this season, take a pair of games from St. Lawrence earlier in the season while also going on a four-game win streak with doubleheader sweeps of Mount Saint Vincent and SUNY Poly. Since the Raptor’s win over Skidmore on April 8 though, Bard has hit a skid, dropping its last 12 games, registering 10 or more hits in just one of those games. Senior Adam Carafotes has continued to be a stalwart for the Bard offense as he had all career long, as he leads the team in hitting with a .354 batting average. Matt Lasky is fifth in the Liberty League in on-base percentage as well with a .476 clip. Evan Richardson has been great for Bard on the hill, as he is 10th in the league in ERA with a 3.69 mark, while striking out a conference-high 47 hitters over 39 innings.

The Brewers come into this weekend’s game with some work to do in the conference standings, but still have a good shot at making the four-team playoffs at the end of the year with strong performances both this weekend and next at St. Lawrence. Today, the Brewers are honored a senior class of six performers that have been critical to the continued success of the Vassar baseball team. Over the last four seasons, the Brewers have posted 61 total victories over the last four seasons including chalking up 37 Liberty League wins. This group has seen the Liberty League Tournament once, making the playoffs back in 2014, while also being part of the winningest squad in program history with 19 victories back in 2014. Also that season, VC won a program-high 13 conference contests, and over the last four seasons three members of this group have earned an All-Liberty League season accolade for their work. With five more wins this season, the senior class would become the winningest group in program history.

Vassar vs. Bard

Brewer Bio on . . . Max SPENCER Spencer, a freshman southpaw from San Diego, California, has settled in as a shutdown relief arm for the Brewers this season. Spencer has gotten into 11 games this season, 10 in relief, and has allowed just one earned run over his last four appearances. Over the last five games of action, the sidearm throwing lefty has allowed just one hit and one earned run over 7.1 innings of work, striking out 10 batters while walking just two over his last five innings. Spencer was stellar earlier in the season in a crazy game against New York University, as the lefty came on and shut down NYU in a 15-14, extra inning victory, allowing one hit over three innings. On April 22 at RPI, he came on and struck out four batters in two frames, and this season he allowed just two of the 12 inherited runners to score when coming on with runners on board.
