Baby Sails Meg Forster Sunday, February 23, 12pm to 4pm “BABY SAILS” pattern – by Thankfully Sew – REQUIRED 1 jelly roll or ¼ yard of at least 10 – 12 different fabrics, cut into 2 1/2” strips ½ yard light fabric for sail boats Fat 1/8th’s of five fabrics for boat sails Fat 1/8 navy for boats Scrap of brown for boat masts 1 ¼ yard jumbo rick rack (navy or other coordinating color) ½ - ¾ yard of fusible webbing (heat ‘n bond or steam a seam) Thread to coordinate with boats and sails for applique stitching Sewing machine with foot pedal and power cord in working order; rotary cutter; seam ripper; ruler (6” X 12” works fine; longer ruler not necessary); fabric marker; fabric scissors; paper scissors; mechanical pencil; pins; PRIOR TO CLASS: Read through pattern; trace 5 boats, 5 sails, 5 masts, and 5 stars onto paper side of fusible webbing. Learn how to set up blanket stitch or zig zag stitch on your machine, and practice applique stitch on scraps of fabric.
