About the Eagles Facing off against the top two teams in the conference at home, the Edgewood College softball team lost four straight against Benedictine and Aurora last weekend. The Edgewood College softball team dropped a pair of games to Benedictine, 11-0, and 12-2, on Saturday afternoon. In game one, the Eagles (2-20, 0-8 NACC) mustered just three hits against Benedictine starter Holly Haberkorn (12-2), including one each by Karly Vigani, Grace Delleman, and Hanna Parisi, but it wasn’t enough against a Benedictine offense that pounded out 13 hits. The Eagles dropped game two to Benedictine, 12-2, after the visitors scored seven unearned runs in the third inning to break open a close game. On Sunday, the Eagles faced another tough test in losing a pair of games to NACC preseason favorite, Aurora University, 8-0, and 14-1. The Eagles surrendered six RBI singles and an RBI double against a Spartan team that scored in all but one inning of an 8-0 defeat. Vigani, Jordan Anderson, and Parisi each registered a hit, but struggled against Aurora’s undefeated starter, Britni Wilson (4-0). It was a tough go-around in game two after the Eagles gave up six runs in the first inning in an eventual 14-1 defeat. Parisi’s RBI double in the fourth represented the Eagles lone run.

About the Regents Rockford is 3-19, 0-8 in the NACC and was recently swept by both Aurora and Benedictine. The Regents have been shut out in seven of their eight conference games. Brooke Burris (.333/.370/.392) is the top two-way threat for the Regents. Burris sports a 3.68 ERA over 51.1 innings on the mounds and leads a team that is last in runs (1) and hits (25) in NACC play.
