Truth Flowing from One Generation to the Next— Through Strong Heart Connections

STUDENTS PAGE February 15-18, 2012 Saving Sex for Marriage—Richard Ross, Ph.D. 1. Heart Surprise (Today a teenager goes first): Say: I go through times when I’m sure someone of the opposite sex will be drawn to me. Other days, I have my doubts. Today, the way I am feeling about this is . . . Something from the Heart Surprise I want to remember:

2. Read Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:18 and 1 Thessalonians 4:3-6 Truth • God commands that all sexual behavior be expressed inside a marriage relationship. Untruth • If it isn’t intercourse, it isn’t really sex. • Sex outside marriage isn’t wrong if you practice “safe sex.” • Sex outside marriage is fine as long as two people love each other. 3. Explore Scripture: Write what you want to remember about the Scriptures.

4. Think it Through: A parent will lead this activity. 5. Nail It Down: Say: God created sex, so it’s good. It only becomes wrong and dangerous when it’s experienced outside a marriage relationship. Affirm that God offers every member of your family the strength and wisdom necessary to live a life of purity. 6. Pray: A parent will lead today’s prayer. 7. Blessing: Listen as your parent blesses the family. Teen Tip: One way to stand strong in the face of temptation (whether sexual or some other form) is to build a strong network of peers and adults who will hold you accountable. Enlist your parents to help you create a short list of significant people you can ask to become accountability partners in your life.
