Truth • Depending on God helps you move forward after hard times. Untruths • Hard times prove that you can only count on your own talents and abilities. • You might have to use other people if you’re going to survive tough times. • When someone or something hurts you, the best thing to do is fight back.
3. Explore Scripture: Write what you want to remember about the Scriptures.
4. Think It Through: Read the following statements to your family. Encourage family members to answer “true” or “false” after each phrase. Discuss the actions of Job when he heard about the deaths of his children. A. In his sadness, Job shaved his head. (True) B. Job cursed God for the deaths of his children. (False) C. After mourning, Job was able to move on because of his faith in God. (True) D. Job recognized that he must depend on God and not his children. (True) 5. Nail It Down: A parent will lead this activity. 6. Pray: A parent will lead this prayer. 7. Blessing: Listen as your parent blesses the family. Teen Tip: Make a list of five actions your family can take to spend more “fun” time together. Share your list with a parent. Explain that you would like to spend more “fun” time with your family. Encourage family members to identify one thing on the list you can do together by the end of summer.
