Main Street Rehabilitation Project SURVEY - CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULING The City of Placerville greatly values your input to help us to determine the most effective manner to schedule construction of the water, sewer, roadway, and related improvements that are part of the Main Street Rehabilitation project. This survey will help the City determine a construction schedule that minimizes impacts/disruption experienced by customers, business owners, and the community.

Question 3: TRADE-OFFS. It appears that the cross walk, sidewalk, roadway paving and sewer rehabilitation work can be accomplished relatively quickly. However repairing and replacing the water line is necessary but will require a significant effort. To some extent, the water line replacement work can be accomplished in an expedited fashion, but with significant impediment to parking and traffic on Main Street, and by extension to businesses. Conversely, the waterline work could be planned to occur over a longer duration, with significantly less impact, but a ‘construction zone’ feel throughout. It is also likely that requiring a contractor to comply with either a required ‘fast track’ or a ‘minimal impact’ approach will increase the project cost. Given these assumptions… 3A. Would you prefer the shortest duration but greatest impact, the longest duration with the least direct impact, or a balanced approach? 

Shortest duration but greatest impact

Longest duration with the least direct impact

Balanced approach
