Sewing Center News Hello Everyone! Christmas is around the corner and as I write this newsletter I am thinking about all the places and ways that a person can give. Organizations are asking for donations; time, money, food, etc. to help the less fortunate. We have asked for help with making pillow cases for a charitable cause. Quilts of Valor is asking for quilts for our soldiers and the list goes on. It’s easy to just become hardened to all the requests for help because it seems like we see and hear it all year long but especially around the holidays. Then I think how that God gave us the best gift that Heaven had and I wonder can I not give to my fellow men? Can I help lift their burden and spread a little cheer? I want to take this opportunity to extend a great big thank you to all those that have given of their time and talents. May God bless you. I especially want to thank those that have helped us by making pillow cases, may you also be blessed.

Feetures Foot Facts Jeans Foot #8 Perfect for sewing heavy seams and thick fabrics, jeans Foot #8 is a natural for such heavy duty sewing projects as hemming jeans, sewing canvas, or making travel bags, Going from a single layer of fabric to several thick layers is no problem for this foot. The single needle hole provides extra stability for the needle even as it crosses thick bulky areas such as flat felled seams. This foot is essentially a straight stitch foot and should not be used with wide decorative stitches. The needle opening is wide enough to accept a stitch width of 1 mm; however any wider stitch will cause the needle to strike the foot and break. The narrow groove or thread indention on the bottom of the foot allows heavy threads to pass under the foot, preventing skipped stitches when topstitching or sewing reinforced seams. To maximize the efficiency of Jeans Foot #8, the correct needle choice is important. The specialty jeans needle in size 100 or 110 is designed to sew through thick, dense fabrics. The jeans needle has a long , sharp tip that makes a larger hole in the fabric, allowing heavy thread to pass and form a stitch without fraying or splitting. It is not advisable to use a needle smaller then a #100 when using this foot.
