As we draw to the end of the first term of the academic year 2015-2016, it is lovely to see how settled and happy the children all are. There is a happy buzz about the school with the children all keen to learn and keen to tell me what they are learning … but this week has been a little more about fun whilst remembering what Christmas is all about. On Tuesday the Oaks and Cedar classes went to the pantomime at Whitley Bay—they were all buzzing when they came back—they had an ‘awesome’ time! Last week Willow and Rowan classes went to Whitehouse Farm and participated in their own nativity with the added bonus of a real donkey. Today is our party—all the children work together across the school in their house groups. It is lovely to see them all helping and looking after each other. Stannington The Nativity is our final event of the term, in Church at 1.30pm. Please be prompt! This year we are asking you to join in with us wearing your Christmas jumper and singing carols. The carol sheet with photos of the children will be on sale in the church at a cost of £1—all money raised will go to Text Santa. There will be a recording of the performance on sale in the New Year, so you can sit back and enjoy it without worrying about getting any photos. If you would like to take a photo of your child, please do so at the end of the performance. Over the holidays please check through your school uniforms—there are quite a few items that have gone missing this term—please check and make sure that all uniform is named. Reading books—we have taken all reading books out of the children’s bags so that we can assess their reading. Please enjoy sharing any books from Father Christmas and ask your child to write the titles of their books in their reading records. With best wishes for a happy Christmas from all the staff at Stannington First School.
