Edgewood College dropped a pair of games last week to conference foes, but neither game was short on excitement. The Eagles overcame a 16-point deficit in about three minutes at MSOE and records were broken on Saturday in a loss at Aurora. Thanks to a flurry of three-pointers Tuesday at MSOE, the Eagles were able to erase a 16-point deficit in just a 3:18 span late in the first half. The Raiders were up only 46-45 at the break but wound up outscoring the Eagles 51-28 in the second half for a 97-73 win. Spencer Barnes hit five three’s and had a career high 23 points while Sy Staver tied his career high with 16. McClain Steffens was in double figures for the first time with 12. The Eagles hit a school-record 15 three’s and Sy Staver matched a 27-year old school record with 17 assists in a 10390 loss against the Spartans on Saturday. The Eagles were able to hang with Aurora until the last few minutes thanks to Arik Anderson’s show in the second half. He scored all of his career high 19 points after the break and was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.

About the Muskies Lakeland put together a five-game winning streak in midDecember but have since lost six of its last nine heading into tonight’s matchup. They are currently tied with Rockford for the sixth and final NACC playoff spot. The duo of Tanner Hackl and Travis Kell have paced the Muskies all season. Hackl is 10th in the league in scoring (16.7) and fifth in rebounding (7.7). Kell is fourth in rebounding (7.9) and 10th in field goal percentage (55.2). Pat McDonal is second in three-point shooting at 47.0 percent (31-of-66).

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD COACH

JUSTIN MEYER

Support from the Eagle Booster Club has played a significant role in the success of our program, which has earned 12 conference championships and three NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances. During my time here at Edgewood College, the Eagles have won four conference titles and played in seven conference championship games. In 2015 we reached the NACC semifinals for the fourth time in the last five years. We have also played in three of the last five NACC championship games. Now beginning my 13th full season, I am very excited about the upcoming season. I feel very fortunate and honored to be part of a program with such a storied history, and a loyal and dedicated fan base. Having a young and hungry team this year, I truly feel we are ready to carry on the Eagle tradition and bring home another conference championship and a return to the NCAA Tournament. This off season has seen lots of hard work, sweat, and dedication from our team in hopes of it paying off in February. Our program continues to attract high-quality student-athletes who strive to do their best both on the court and in the classroom. Last season we had a team GPA of over 3.0 once again, and also had over 400 hours of community service. Our players know they represent everyone who has ever worn an Eagle uniform or attended our fine institution. Now, we invite your support to share in our quest to bring home another championship to Edgewood College. By becoming an Eagle Booster you can be confident you are investing in a first class program by providing our studentathletes with apparel, meals, and special travel opportunities. This year we will be travelling to play D-I Bradley University in an exhibition game and a tournament in Wisconsin Dells. In the Dells, we will be playing 2015 national runner-up, Augustana College. Experiences like these offer our student-athletes a once in a life time experience, but hey also come with a steep price tag. This season all Booster Club donations will go towards apparel and travel needs with the goal of having our student-athletes contribute as little as possible for these experiences. Please take time to read about the Booster Club and all the wonderful things it does for our student-athletes. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me to learn more. Thank you for your support and Go Eagles! Sincerely, Justin Meyer, Head Coach [email protected] 608.663.6703 @ECEagles_BBall
